Another Grammy Museum event. I’d posted about the first mono listening party, but it got lost during one of the purges.
Back by popular demand! The Record Theater: The Beatles’ Second Album (Capitol 2080) in Mono. Imagine a theater. As Chuck Berry would say “the place is packed.” Lights go out. An album cover is on the screen. Suddenly, a vinyl record is being played.
From the first song on side one, to the last song on side two. No phones. No computers. No interruptions.
To continue The GRAMMY Museum’s celebration of The Beatles’ 50th Anniversary in America during the year 2014, join us as we welcome you to the Clive Davis Theater to experience the legendary Beatles’ Second Album in mono, as originally released on vinyl in 1964. After the record ends, former President of Apple Records, Jack Oliver and co-author of Recording the Beatles Brian Kehew, will join Etzioni on stage for a discussion.
Q: Which artist was the first to replace itself at number one on the US album charts?
A: The Beatles with The Beatles’ Second Album, which went to number one, knocking off Meet the Beatles! Here’s another clue for you all:
The last song on The Beatles’ Second Album ends with “YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!”Screaming girls will not be admitted without a parent or guardian.
Members get 2 for 1 tickets, and they are $10 each.

^Ah, that’s too bad! But at least they’ve just been rescheduled, although I can see that being an issue with so many people having tickets and planning travel, etc.

AGGGGHHHHH! Thanks for the info, but.. Agh. Our show was on a Saturday over my Summer vacation; the new date is a Wednesday when I will have school the next day, and the city it’s in is a few hours away from where I am.
EDIT: Wow, this looks extremely selfish now, and I guess it was. It is certainly more important than my own worries that Paul Get(s) Back to full health before he tours again.
If you're lonely (or not!), you can talk to me. .....Hey! Are you a new member on this fine forum and don't know where to go to introduce yourself?

Love how Binny tells them its her first time in London and John’s reply of “great” is drenched in not giving two hoots. He did that in a lot of interviews when folk informed him of such things.

Wogblog reports that an expanded edition of John and Yoko’s August 1972 One To One Concerts will be coming out soon using material from both shows – the 1986 album featured tracks from the afternoon show only whilst the ’98 Lennon Anthology included three tracks from the evening performance.
Hopefully there will be a collectors edition that includes both concerts in full along with some of the rehearsals – there is a cracking performance of Working Class Hero that surfaced a year or so back on a radio station (see this thread).

From Reuters:
The U.S. Congress is working to update laws on who gets paid for recorded music, in a possible omnibus bill, as old CDs pile up at yard sales and music lovers increasingly shift to streaming services such as Pandora and Spotify.
One bill, the RESPECT Act, would close a loophole that allows digital music services, like SiriusXM, to stream music recorded before 1972 without paying for them. These include legends such as The Beatles, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross and other Motown artists.
