* WogBlog article on retouching done on the Abbey Road cover. A tidbit that may be news to some of you:
So now we know: the girl in the blue dress was no mistake and no passer-by, she was added to the photo during retouching!

According to the photographer, Iain Macmillan, she wasn’t. In the comments section of that same article there is a quote from wiki’s entry on Iain which reads
“After the shoot Iain went to find a road sign for use on the back cover. It was taken on the corner with Alexandra Road. During photographing the sign a girl in a blue dress walked through the shot. Iain was angry but later it was chosen as the back cover. The wall with the sign was demolished several years later.”

Good catch.
You probably won’t see this response until much later, as it seems to be my turn to be on the dreaded moderated status. Edit: So, of course, that one went through just fine, lol.

That damn moderation thing is spreading, who knows why its picking up posts with nothing in them of any concern. Maybe it needs something to do.
Wogblog has additional information on the reported retouching of the album back cover (see the posts above – starting at 1608) with the blue dressed lady walking by along with a picture of the cover at an earlier stage of its design with the unknown lady in it.
Out of interest has the lady ever made herself known? Surely she realised it was her after the album was put out.

There has been a lot of articles the past 24 hours on the upcoming (4 June) Sotheby’s New York auction “You Might Well Arsk” of manuscript material for John’s first two books, such as this or this, in response to the preview show opening.
The catalogue for the auction on the Sotheby’s site is well worth a look, with each lot illustrated by zoomable images of it when you press on the image.

For those in the UK, Saturday’s edition of The Times includes a selection of unpublished photos from their archive.
EMI Music Australia has uploaded a video to YouTube celebrating the 50th anniversary of their tour there.
Next Friday is International Beatles Fan Day and fans are being invited to listen to All You Need Is Love at 6pm. The article suggests either 6pm Liverpool or 6pm your own time, which doesn’t seem to make it a universal moment.

Ozzy is well known as a huge Beatles fan. I remember several years ago watching Howard Stern on TV and it was back to back episodes, one with Paul as the guest and the next with Ozzy, and when Paul went into the green room after his show, Ozzy saw him and was like a little girl…he was absolutely star struck and shook his hand, told him how honored he was to finally meet him, that if it wasn’t for the Beatles, he wouldn’t have gotten into music…it was pretty cool.
EDIT: Here’s the video!
