On behalf of Parlance:
[Apologies in advance if there are reposts. I still can’t access the forum from my home computer.]
* From Broadway World via Beatles News, a first look at Ringo’s character on The Powerpuff Girls. It’s about as cute as you’d expect it to be.
From the Examiner:
- Eurythmics is reuniting for the Grammy Beatle tribute. The press release including other performers and a ticket link is here.
- A fundraiser at indiegogo.com:
Beatles for a cause: A book project on Indiegogo.com, “The New Norm: Broken Wings, Broken Assumptions, Breaking Through,” is the story of a Beatles fan with a resemblance to Paul McCartney now suffering from Parkinson’s Disease. The book was started by Mike Oltersdorf and was finished by his son Dan when Mike’s physical and cognitive symptoms progressed to a point where he was no longer able to write. The project has raised $230 USD and is hoping to raise $7,500 in 45 days. You can learn more here. (Thanks to Lizzie Bravo for the alert.)
* Prudence Farrow will appear at the Fest for Beatles Fans in NYC next month. Whoa, that’s huge! She normally stays away from fan conventions.
* According to the Liverpool Echo, a film about a trip John and Paul made to North Wales called “Men of Harlech.”
* Abbey Road on the River in Louisville, KY will reenact the group’s debut on The Ed Sullivan Show, right down to the commercials. Sounds fun!

That Ringo clip IS a lot of fun.
I wad thinking you might have a hard time getting Paul to agree to a cartoon likeness in a bow and dress.
And I just noticed Bubbles is playing a left-handed bass. Cute!

* From Ultimate Classic Rock: Paul and Ringo may perform together on David Letterman on Feb. 7.
* From Something Else: Ringo will definitely be performing at the Grammys with Toto guitarist Steve Lukather.
* Liverpool Echo article on a fundraising campaign for a statue in Brian’s honor.
* Examiner article on the Everly Brothers’ influence on The Beatles.
* Also, a Mojo article featuring a clip of the duo performing a Beatles medley for their 1970 variety show.
* Great interview with Mark Lewisohn on the making of Tune In.
* Not new, but just posted on Reddit: a film on the recreation of the poster that inspired “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!” You can still order it, and it is quite pricey at £249.

It came up as the link. Paul’s message/post/dedication text reads:
Paul McCartney
Paul remembers musician Phil Everly who passed away last week:“Phil Everly was one of my great heroes. With his brother Don, they were one of the major influences on The Beatles. When John and I first started to write songs, I was Phil and he was Don.
“Years later when I finally met Phil, I was completely starstruck and at the same time extremely impressed by his humility and gentleness of soul.
“I will always love him for giving me some of the sweetest musical memories of my life.”

* Press release, via Beatlefan, on the upcoming recreation of the Beatles’ first US concert. Had no idea Al Gore was there.
* Also via Beatlefan:
In collaboration with Beatlefan magazine, Anthony Cusumano is conducting a survey designed to determine a definitive ranking of every single Beatles and solo Beatles studio album released between 1963 and 2013. This includes experimental, classical and remix albums that were primarily credited to or authorized by at least one Beatle, even if they didn’t actually perform on the album. Live albums, compilations and archive releases are not included. For the purposes of uniformity, only the band’s U.K. catalog is considered, with the exception of the American “Magical Mystery Tour ” LP. Each album is presented in chronological order, with the artist and year also listed.
Rate each album on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest. (If you are not familiar with a particular album, simply do not enter a rating.) Remember that your ratings are relative to every other album in the survey, not just to the other albums by that artist!
Here’s the link to participate! http://eSurv.org?u=beatles
* Daily Mail article on a fan who travelled for 8 years taking photos of Abbey Road signs in England.

Wow, that poll is cool, I voted, but I noticed that even though it says remix albums are included, neither Let It Be … Naked nor the Yellow Submarine Songtrack are included.

Actually, at the bottom of each page, there is just that! And I just totally ignored it. Well, really, it’s grouped by about 5 years at a time, and I didn’t realize Let It Be … Naked wasn’t there until after I was done, and the Yellow Submarine Songtrack just occured to me as I was typing that post.
