Random: Does anyone know what was up with George’s awful choppy fringe during this tour? Did somebody go at him with a weed-whacker? Seriously, how do you make George Harrison ‘s hair look bad???

Tickets are $25 per person.
* Photographer Harry Benson will give a talk on Jan. 13 in Lake Worth, Florida:

I was wondering that myself the other day. It looks absolutely horrible! I think that perhaps even I would’ve been able to do a better job on it, and I’ not even a hairdresser!

Maybe Ringo still had dreams of owning a chain of hair salons and was trying out his skillz.

Not sure if this is quite Beatles news, and it’s definitely not new news because it has been announced for a while, but in case anybody’s interested, the Cavern club has said what’s going to be on for this year’s Beatleweek : http://www.cavernclub.org/beatleweek

What a silly comment. Their sucess has nothing to do with where they recorded, but their talent and the work they put into getting better.

Not sure if this is old news or new news, maybe both…Smithsonian/The Grammy Museum have an all-Beatles magazine on The Beatles in America with unpublished photos from Ringo and various essays from contributors. This article from Examiner in November says it was available for order from smithsonian.com, but it is now available on the news stands wtih a date of “February” on it. We picked up a copy yesterday.

I posted about it at the time, but it’s good to know it’s available on newsstands now. Thanks, I’ll try to pick it up along with the new Rolling Stone.

Thanks, acmac! For some reason I can only access the forum from anywhere but home, so my contributions to news updates will either be aesthetically inelegant or by proxy until I hear from Joe.

Rumours are going about that amongst a large collection of recently found BBC tapes in Nigeria there is a copy of the complete Ticket To Ride performance on Top Of The Pops. Whether or not that would also mean the performance of Yes It Is , which was also performed, has also been discovered, is not mentioned. Personally Yes It Is would be far more interesting as i’ve never seen a performance of the song, albeit mimed.
A short extract of the TTR performance was included in an episode of Doctor Who (found on Joe’s entry for the TOTP appearance).

Yeah, I read that rumour too. I won’t get my hopes up – it seems to be a couple of people saying “Wouldn’t it be nice if…”, and the story becomes “TV vault may contain…” It might also contain the Holy Grail, Nazi gold and the statue of Zeus at Olympia, but willing it to happen doesn’t make it so.
*If* the vault does contain some TOTP episodes it’s obviously great, but as far as I can tell there’s currently absolutely no evidence that it does. Still, if it does Kevin Howlett will be able to write another Beatles book

The US Albums are up on iTunes to preorder. Price UK-wise it’s £8.99 for each individual album in the UK; for all of them, The Box, it’s £89.99 (the UK albums, not looking at double LP’s, are £10.99). The Beatles Story is not available on its own. The US albums are in their own section, clearly separated from the UK albums.
There is also a 1 minute 54 second promo video for the US albums that is free to watch.
Over on The Beatles youtube account you can watch a different video promoting the US Albums, posted below.
[Edit: Should note that these have been “Mastered for iTunes”, whatever that means.]
