Peter Asher is guest-hosting on LA’s Breakfast with the Beatles today until noon PST. (If that link doesn’t work outside the US, maybe the iHeartRadio one will).

Came across this via Maccaboard – Paul donated a personally recorded voice mail to charity. Don’t know what the final amount was, but at one point bidding was over $7,000.

Peter Asher has revealed that he has a previously unreleased demo of I’ll Follow The Sun and is planning on airing it sometime in the future. We already have a 1960 home recording, would be fantastic to hear a bridge between that and the BFS recording.
Folks here might remember that Peter Asher was the source for a 30 second demo of World Without Love.

No worries. Folks who have been around for a while post in the wrong place at times and it gets moved. You’re a newbie, we’ll let this one pass.

News that George turned down an OBE because he felt he deserved a knighthood, like Paul:

Interesting. Wonder why they thought he deserved a lesser honor than Paul.

Although I disagree with that view, I can see why they might think he may not deserve the same honour as Paul – songwriting career shorter, career post-Beatles less inmense and succesful, wasn’t/sn’t considered by many as an equal Beatle to J&P, etc. It’s a shame, but I can see why. ‘Just’ offering him an OBE just a few years after Paul got his knighthood is very insensitive and not very well thought out. It seems George will always be under-appreciated.

Yes, and the more I thought about it, the more it ticked me off. I thought it was also in recognition of charitable activities, and you’d think co-organizing The Concert for Bangladesh, the template for Live Aid, would have been enough, but he was active in charitable efforts beyond that. It was a slap in the face particularly nearing the end of his life. They shouldn’t have even bothered.

Candlestick Park is headed for demolition in the near future…… to applause. Not only from this, but almost all media sources. It also has a pretty good little history of this historic Beatle place.
And a deal is reportedly still in the works for Paul to perform a final concert.

In the US, the CW will be reairing the iheartradio festival, including Paul’s performance, tomorrow from 8-10 EST. Someone said it’s airing tonight, but it was originally a two-night broadcast, so I think they’re showing night one tonight and night two (Paul’s night) tomorrow.

Hopefully not a repost. From Something Else:
Next year could bring a U.S. tour for Julian Lennon, keyed to a just-announced appearance at South by Southwest in Austin. Talks are apparently on-going.
Lennon, who dove headlong into photography even as his 2011 solo effort Everything Changes saw stateside release this year, earlier said the SWSW stop could include an exhibit, a screening of his new documentaryThrough the Picture Window, a theater-based acoustic show with a Q&A session, and then a concluding performance featuring an orchestra.
Best known for his 1980s hit “Too Late for Goodbyes,” Lennon became serious about photography after shooting pictures of his half-brother Sean Lennon’s 2007 tour. An exhibit titled Timeless opened in 2010 in New York, and Julian has maintained a tandem career ever since. The well-received Everything Changes featured a notable guest appearance by Steven Tyler of Aerosmith fame.
Lennon confirmed talks with SXSW directors during a London screening of Through the Picture Window, which explores Lennon’s new-found passion for photography, his philanthropy and his personal life.
He said the orchestral performance in Austin would be for charity, with donations going both to his White Feather Foundation — which focuses on conservation and other global initiatives — as well as local non-profits.
From there, the hope is that a North American tour could easily be mounted, Lennon tells Music-News.com.
“The idea being that I would piggyback that idea with one-night only shows in major cities with full or partial orchestra,” he says. “Maybe ten shows in the states and see how that goes and then take it to the next level.”
