* BBC interview with Paul. Among other things, he says the World Cup rumor is just that. And he talks about his track “Early Days .”
When I write songs I don’t always think I’m going to make a statement. On the day (I wrote the track Early Days ) I was thinking about the past, particularly me and John in Liverpool in the early days so I just ran with that. I started to get images of us in the record shop listening to early rock and roll and looking at the posters and the joy that that gave me remembering all those moments.
So that song just evolved around that and then I found that one of the things that came was – you can’t take it away from me, even though you can say ‘hey this is what happened in Liverpool in the late 1950s but I’m going to say ‘were you there or did you just read about it?’ Because I was there and I was walking down that street – so it’s that kind of song. It gets a bit of a dig at people who say they know what it was all about but they weren’t there – but mainly it’s just fond memories for me.
* Excerpt from NME interview with Paul:
“There’s a huge period in the ’70s – I couldn’t tell you what was on the albums then,” says McCartney. “It was a bit befuzzled. It was after the end of The Beatles and I was a bit like, ‘Oh God , where are we gonna go now?’ Trying to get Wings together. There are some tracks there. I’ve seen tracklistings and thought, ‘I wonder what that one’s like?'”

You can hear Paul’s new single “Queenie Eye ” here at Direct Music.
Edit: More on the song at The Examiner.
Two versions of the song, an album edit (3:48), and a slightly shorter radio edit (3:28), and two short clips of spoken dialogue by McCartney were released. The first clip was a brief introduction by Paul to the song for use on radio. “Hello there, this is Paul McCartney on your local radio station loving being here. I’m introducing my new song ‘Queenie Eye .'”
The second dialogue clip was a longer introduction with McCartney explaining all about the song to radio listeners.
“Now this song, ‘Queenie Eye ,’ is based on a game we used to play when I was kids. You got to remember that’s a long time ago and basically in kind of a poor area I was from. What you did you entertain yourself was go out in the street and play street games. There wasn’t that much traffic, so you were pretty safe. And one of the games was called ‘Queenie Eye .’

Paul did a surprise show for some students in Queens today. Funny thing, a coworker mentioned this to me this morning, and I thought, “Wahhh?” From USA Today:
So your partner might get you flowers to mark your wedding date.
Being married to Paul McCartney ups the ante just a little.
“Happy anniversary, baby!” he said to his third wife, Nancy Shevell, as he performed Wednesday afternoon for a small crowd of mostly students at an album release party in Queens sponsored by iHeartRadio. The kids had been dispatched to an assembly without being told who their special guest would be. Color them surprised.
McCartney’s latest album, New, is out Oct. 15. The event, which was not publicized ahead of time, took place at the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts. There, McCartney held what was billed as a “master class,” followed by a Q&A with the high school students and a performance. Those unable to attend (which includes most of us) can listen in when the show airs across Clear Channel Media and streams on Yahoo! (Monday, 9 p.m. ET/6 PT).
He opened the show with The Beatles’ classic Eight Days A Week , written by John Lennon and McCartney. The rollicking single New was a tribute to Shevell, his wife of two years. “My wife is in the audience,” he said. “This is for you.”

Paul news
[x-posted at the New album thread]:
* Samples of the 12 tracks from “New” are up at All Music.
* More on Paul’s secret show at the Meet the Beatles for Real blog.
Paul made an unannounced appearance today at a Fine Arts High School in New York. Everyone is making it sound that the student’s were called into an assembly and then surprise….Paul McCartney concert. But the tip I heard was that there were rumors going around the school yesterday that Paul was going to be at the school today. So while the students were surprised (who wouldn’t be surprised if Paul McCartney showed up at your High School?), it wasn’t a total and complete shock.

* Interview with Paul for ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau posted at The Macca Report. Looks like it was part of a recent press junket.

The book is scheduled for release on Nov. 19 by Dark House Comics. It will include an afterword by cartoonist Howard Cruse (“Stuck Rubber Baby,” “Wendel”) about his own experiences with the struggle for marriage and the connection between the Brian Epstein story and Freedom to Marry.
