* Story the NY Daily News via The Macca Report about Paul reaching out to the dying friend of his wife:
Paul McCartney makes lifelong dream come true for beloved city official stricken with cancer
Sir Paul reached out to Susan Kupferman as she was dying of cancer, Mayor Bloomberg reveals
Paul McCartney made a lifelong dream come true for a dying Beatles fan who had been an admired official at City Hall.
One fourth of the world’s greatest rock band reached out to Susan Kupferman when she was in the final stages of cancer, a grateful Mayor Bloomberg revealed Friday.
McCartney called the terminally ill woman – who had left city government to become a top official at the MTA – when she was in the hospital.
Kupferman and McCartney’s wife – former MTA board member Nancy Shevell – were friends.
“I wasn’t on the call but I’m telling you, Sir Paul called,” an impressed Bloomberg said Friday on his weekly appearance on John Gambling’s WOR-AM radio show.
Bloomberg – whose admiration for the rock legend is well-known – now has even more respect for McCartney.
“He is a great guy,” he said.

RIP, Nat Weiss, Beatles attorney and Epstein confidante:
Beatles lawyer and close Brian Epstein friend Nat Weiss has died
Nat Weiss, an attorney who was a loyal friend and confidante of Brian Epstein and in charge of merchandising for the Beatles in the U.S., and who represented a host of other musicians, has died, musician Steve Forbert announced on Facebook Aug. 3.
“Nathan M. Weiss passed away Wednesday night in New York City,” Forbert said. “Nat Weiss was indisputably one of the all time greats of the real music business — a person whom one would consider themselves very lucky to have known and very lucky to have worked with. He was the smartest person I’ve ever met and certainly one of the strongest. I’m eternally grateful to him.”
His son, Shaun, told Beatles Examiner, “Nat would want people to remember him as a friend of the Beatles and to their fans. As time went on he grew old he faded into the history books but he never forgot how Beatle fans would write him and tell him how much they loved the Fab Four.”
Here’s a (cropped) pic by Linda of Weiss with John and Paul – looks like at the NYC announcement of Apple.

* Another play, this one focusing on John will be in Liverpool from Aug 20-24.
John Lennon is having a moment. Again. More than three decades after his untimely death in New York, the Lennon legend lives on in not one, but two plays being performed in Liverpool this month.
And while John Power is taking on his first acting role – playing the ex-Beatle at the Royal Court – Daniel Taylor is preparing to be John Winston Lennon for the third time.
Writer Ian Carroll’s play One Bad Thing – which suggests while Mark Chapman may have fired the bullet that killed the music icon, he’d been manipulated by darker state forces who wanted Lennon off the scene – is at the Liverpool Actors Studio Theatre in Seel Street after being performed there three years ago.
* From The Examiner:
Unreleased acetate of Paul McCartney song by Peter & Gordon on eBay
An acetate described as an unreleased version of the Peter & Gordon hit song “Woman ” which was written by Paul McCartney under the alias Bernard Webb was put up for sale Aug. 5 on eBay. The song, a historic find and a different arrangement of the version that became a top 20 hit for the British duo, includes the former Beatle playing drums, according to the description on the listing.
The acetate contains two mixes of the Dec. 1, 1965, recording session, which the description says has never been released, the listing states. You can hear a clip of the acetate on Soundcloud.
“The disc was cut on the 8th December 1965 after the first session by Engineer Ken Scott, his initials KS are on the acetate. The acetate disc is TWO SIDED and contains TWO MIXES of the original 1st December session. One is marked ‘Mix 1’ and the other ‘RM4’. Both sides of the acetate are mint and playback without any skipping, and with almost no surface noise.”

Apologies if this has been posted before but Wogblog there was much hype over some rare photos of the Beatles being discovered, well now said photos have been removed from sale as they are not as rare as previously thought.
The real reason why I post this however is the hilarious Daily Mail article over these “rare” photos. Quality journalism at its finest.

Haha, yeah, saw that the other day. Those were all photos I’d seen hundreds of times over the past 20+ years and they obviously have been around longer than that. The one that cracked me up were the 4 White Album portraits

^^ It makes me wonder how often auction houses sell bogus items.
Saw the new Rolling Stone and the cover is the best live acts right now, and there’s a brief article on Paul. I think it’s a portion of the online interview posted here about a week or two ago.

I sent you a PM on how to listen to it. If you’ve gotten it, let me know. If enough people express interest on the show, I’ll just start a topic on the forum and that way maybe I can reveal upcoming episodes and such. I’ve yet to receive any feedback from listeners, but maybe here is the place to do it!

wetroosa, does your show come available with a download/podcast or anything like that? Wouldn’t mind listening in but I only ever listen to radio on the move unless its the news or the football.

I wish it could be up for podcast, but due to copyright issues my station doesn’t allow its local music programs to be available for download or podcast. Sorry. Again, wish it was, but it’s the station’s policy.

* Two articles about Paul being able to regain control of his Beatles compositions starting in 2018.
* Article on some of Paul’s collaborators on his new album.
Sir Paul McCartney has teamed up with Giles Martin, son of The Beatles producer Sir George Martin, as well as Adele’s producer Paul Epworth and Sir Tom Jones collaborator Ethan Johns for his new album.
* Another article on the new album, from The Examiner:
More evidence we could be seeing a new Paul McCartney album this year comes from a tiny quote in the Aug. 11 column by gossip columnist Roger Friedman of Showbiz411.com.
Friedman asked McCartney if the album was coming next year. “No. Now. Before that,” he replied. An earlier report on the album from a writer at a recent listening session had been more specific about a release date and said it would be likely out by October.
