* A BBC documentary on Alma Cogan airing this week mentions her alleged affair with John. More on her story here.
* A photo and blurb on Klaus Voorman’s latest album cover, for Achim Schultz’s Heartbeat, here. The album includes two tributes to George and a cover of “My Sweet Lord .”

The tour reportedly is going to hit Osaka, too, but no date has been finalized at the present time.

I’d guess it’s more likely some UK dates follow at the end of the year. On Paul’s official forums, people with some knowledge have been pretty adamant that he’s done in North America for the year after August. Seems strange he’d neglect the West Coast, though!

* Bob Dylan Unreleased Songs With George Harrison To Surface On Bootleg 10
Bob Dylan’s 10th bootleg album will focus on the early session tapes that would become the ‘Self Portrait’ and ‘New Morning’ albums. It was at the time he was working closely with George Harrison who released the ‘All Things Must Pass ’ album around the same time.
Harrison and Dylan co-wrote the opening track from ‘All Things Must Pass ’ titled ‘I’d Have You Anytime’ and George covered Bob’s ‘If Not For You ’ for the album.
* The musical Let It Be opened tonight on Broadway.
* Article at The Examiner on The Fifth Beatle comic about Brian debuting in San Diego this week. [x-posted at the new Beatles books thread].
* According to Beatlefan, Paul’s Osaka date is Nov. 12, venue to be announced.

The producers of ‘Let It Be ‘, the West End musical which is about to open on Broadway, are being sued for copyright infringement by a rival production which claims that it first came up with idea of a show that recreates the band’s story starting in the 1960s’ Liverpool.

Load of bollocks by the creators of ‘Rain ‘, wanting to get a bit of money off ‘Let It Be ‘.
“The Rain Corporation contends that ‘Let It Be ‘ incorporates elements of ‘Rain ‘, including musical arrangements of the Beatles’ hits, Scouse-inflected banter and the hairstyles.”
Because that is not what the actual Beatles did eh? Shouldn’t they be singing Frank Sinatra, with Australian banter and baldness???
The ‘Rain ‘ lawsuit argues that ‘Let It Be ‘, which features 40 of the band’s greatest hits, including ‘Yesterday ‘, ‘Hey Jude ‘ and the title song, uses 28 of the 31 songs performed in ‘Rain ‘.
Because I’m sure the casual Beatles fans would love to hear “What’s The New Mary Jane “.
What a stupid lawsuit that’s not going to get anywhere

Im sure there was a musical in the 70’s that focused on the Beatles story and was done in the US.
Maybe these two should get together and each pick 30 songs each from the catalogue either going in turns or drawing up the lists separately negotiating when they come to a song both sides want. Or one could focus on the early years and the other the later years and both advertise their rival. Or both could get a reality check, stop pissing about and get on with life. I mean surely the musical arrangement would be close to what the Beatles did with the song, or are we getting reworked Beatle tracks, they aren’t doing that whole Beatles remix crap we had forced upon us a while back are they?

Yeah, Beatlemania (there’s an earlier post upthread referencing Stars of Beatlemania). They ran into legal trouble, but not with any rival acts. This whole thing feels cannibalistic.

The full Helter Skelter Take 2 is still lingering in the faults, the version above is nothing more than a fake.

You’re thinking of Take 1, which is 27 minutes long, that’s still in the vaults.

The complete Take 2 remains in the vaults, all longer versions of it are fakes created from the Anthology edit. Lewisohn writes in The Beatles Recording Sessions that “Take 1 lasted 10′ 40″, take 2 12′ 35″ and take 3 an epic 27′ 11″, the longest ever Beatles recording” so even if that was Take 2 it still wouldn’t be complete as it runs for 11 mins 54. Also if that was the complete Take 2 it would have made more impact than on a single youtube account that has went relatively unnoticed since December 2012, think of the publicity that Revolution1 RM20 got (altho admittedly that was a bigger deal than a complete version of an edit we already have). The uncropped Rubber Soul cover got more notice than that vid.
There are a ton of supposed rarities and complete takes of Beatles (and non-Beatles) that are fakes, some of which have been reported genuine and gotten into reports elsewhere. A handful are quite good, others are awful like a supposed complete demo of Eleanor Rigby of which one listen and you wanted to sue the poster of the vid for gross stupidity (looks like its disappeared from youtube thankfully).

Take 3 is the 27 minute epic that everybody wants to hear but probably never will.
Though I suppose it’s possible, I just find it hard to believe that the FAQ 2.0 would link to a fake.

I edited my post to include Lewisohns quote and a few other thoughts. Parlance only quoted a part of it and the overall content isn’t much different. I really shouldn’t write, post and then edit but my thoughts run slower than my posts at times. I know what I want to write but getting the words and tone correct can be bloody difficult. Apologies.
Anyway as said in the last post at times outfakes are posted elsewhere on the net in the genuine belief that they are real and proper, its an honest mistake. I know nothing about FAQ 2.0 as im not on Facebook.
My favourite outfake in the entire universe is this brilliant 80’s Glass Onion concoction, it totally kicks ass with the solo and also shows creativity, this took time to fake. Its still passed off by some as genuine.
