The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus has just been reissued as a four-disc box set (2CD/DVD/Blu-Ray).

The Dirty Mac (John Lennon , Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and Mitch Mitchell) have two previously unissued tracks included. Warmup Jam, which lives up to its name:

and a rehearsal of Revolution :

(Let’s hope this Revolution  stays up longer than the last one…)

I am listening to the expanded edition right now. I already had the DVD from 2004, so I just got the 2-CD version. I didn’t have the 2004 CD, just the mp3s.

THe Beatles first management contract with Brian Epstein – signed by John, Paul, George and Pete on 24 January 1962, but never signed by Brian – is coming up for auction for the first time next month. It’s estimated at £300,000 (approx $380,000 US).

It’s an interesting document as it shows, despite Brian being known for his 25% cut, the first contract gave him 10%, raising to 15% if they earnt more than £120 a week, and negotiated down from the 20% he wanted.

When the second contract was signed in October 1962, with Ringo having joined, the percentage was raised to 25%, and Brian signed.

Much had changed in 10 months.

The Washington Coliseum show from February 1964 is available to buy on/from iTunes for £1.89. No idea on regional availability or if the price is the equivalent.

£1.89 is incredibly cheap for the whole show in pristine quality.

It is good to see these shows become available in some way.

I haven’t checked to see if it is available in Australia but I am interested.

Not a single surprise there for me.

Twist And Shout is incredibly popular in my generation, which explains it being so high.

I know it’s typically around #5 on spotify’s popularity chart, and it probably gained notoriety points for being in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

Also shout out to my favorite beatles song, I Feel Fine for cracking the top 40.

It’s in ‘The Goldbergs’ as one of the kids recreates the Ferris Bueller film which will help the popularity so it’s not a surprise. Plus a lot of football fans sing it.

Would imagine the ‘Pepper’ tracks were helped by the 2017 anniversary which got more promotion than the ‘White Album ‘ did.

I can confirm as a teen that Twist And Shout is probably the most popular Beatles (or at least Beatles rendition) song among people my age, even more so than Here Comes The Sun and Come Together , which I also hear played by people.

I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

I can also confirm that. A couple weeks ago I asked a friend to name a Beatles song and the only one he knew was Twist And Shout .

Now, you may decide this is not news but, instead, 2 + 2 = 5; however, I’m going to run with it…

I was wandering around some of my lesser visited Beatles-related Twitter feeds when I popped in on Giles’.

He tweeted this on 4 July:

strong-AR-deluxe-hint.jpgImage Enlarger

The “last” line of the “last” song on the “last” Beatles album, along with a picture of a period mixing-desk…?

What do we reckon on 8 August for the official announcement?

oooo speculations a-plenty!

There was already a good chance of getting AR duluxe based on history, but this is very promising especially as there is no real prior explanation for it.

I’d be amazed if a deluxe ‘Abbey Road ’ doesn’t come but I think it may end with whatever they end up doing with ‘Let It Be ’ as I don’t see Apple going back. All of these so far are 50 year anniversaries and Apple love tie-ins – the only argument against it is that Apple went back in ‘87 with the cd releases. I hope I’m wrong as surely there is deep justification to get ‘Revolver ’ and ‘Rubber Soul ’ out there.

So a 494 disc hardcore collectors edition where they give us every single second of what’s in the archives for the album sessions plus a remix album plus all the footage shot on their last photo session by Linda plus anything else related. Just send your last living will and testimony plus title deeds to any property and your first born child along with a self-addressed envelope to Apple to pay for it.

Maybe there should be a thread for the reissue speculation and then all talk pre and post is held together. Not sure.
