413 pictures of the Beatles, 367 of which are previously unseen, are being auctioned reports the BBC.
Mike Mitchell captured the Fab Four arriving at the venues, at pre-show press conferences and on stage in Washington DC and Baltimore in 1964.
Mitchell was just 18 at the time and took the photos in natural light because he couldn’t afford a flash.
The negatives are expected to fetch more than £250,000 when they are sold by Omega Auctions on 24 March…
Mitchell photographed the band at their first ever US concert, at Washington Coliseum on 11 February 1964 – two days after their famous appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.
He was on hand again when they played Baltimore Civic Centre on 13 September 1964. He even got on stage to get a better vantage point.

The BBC report that
Plans are under way to create a memorial garden for George Harrison in the town he made his home.
Kellie Hinton, mayor of Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, said talks had progressed with his widow Olivia and charity the Material World Foundation.
The Beatles legend moved to the Grade II-listed Friar Park in Henley, where Mrs Harrison still lives, in the 1970s.
A previous campaign to erect a statue to the former Beatle was halted following a request from Mrs Harrison.
But Ms Hinton said the charity had confirmed Mrs Harrison was in favour of a garden inspired by the singer and guitarist instead.

That’s right.

In other news from the Daily Mail, Danny Boyle reportedly has signed up as director of a new Beatles musical film to be written by Richard Curtis. Based on what has been written by the Daily Mail, “it is about a struggling musician who, for plot reasons as yet unknown, thinks he’s the only person who can remember the Fab Four.” .
I won’t be going to see it – if it ever comes out.
Going back to this the BBC write, in an article on the next Bond film,
According to the Mail, it is hoped Boyle can begin shooting ‘Bond 25’ at the end of the year once All You Need Is Love is completed.
I’m sure we can all agree that Boyle should just ditch the guaranteed to be utterly crap Beatles musical film and get straight to the Bond film. I’m sure if the world could have a mass hand-up vote Bond would win comfortably so why not save everyone’s time, money and, well, make the world a happier place.

Sir George Martin’s widow, Lady Judy Martin, foiled a burglary at their marital home last week. Hearing intruders breaking in through the conservatory while watching television, she fled to the bathroom, locked herself in, and dialled 999. The thieving b******s fled at the sound of approaching police sirens.
It is thought to have been a targeted burglary, with the aim of stealing Beatles memorabilia.
Good on you, Lady Judy, for your quick reactions. Very glad to hear you were not hurt, though I’m sure there’s an element of shock that will take a bit of getting over.
Lady Judy Martin, I salute you!

Around an hour ago, Ringo Starr knelt in front Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, had a sword passed across his shoulders, and stood up as Sir Richard Starkey.
Sir Tim Rice (former partner of [Baron] Andrew Lloyd-Webber) has described it as “the most overdue Knighthood of all time”.
Here’s Ringo arriving at Buckingham Palace for the ceremony with Barbara:
More pictures, including the moment, hopefully video, will follow when they appear online.
All hail, Sir Richard Starkey! Peace and Love!

Joyous news indeed, @Ron Nasty!
Just curious as to whether or not these ceremonies are open in any way to the public, but I imagine not. Anyway, I really need to inquire about who Ringo’s tailor is – he always looks so Fabulous.
Anxiously awaiting updates…

I was just about to say that they both look terribly sharp in that photo.
Anyway, yes, this is SOOOOO OVERDUE. As Stella’s shirt put it…
