My friend of 3+ decades (a fellow Beatles fan) mentioned this upcoming release just last night and I had the same complaints – why no CD edition or downloadable version? And a facetious suggestion that if Apple is going for authenticity, why not go all the way and release ’em on flexi vinyl instead of the good stuff? (Coincidentally, this is the same friend who burned me a CDR bootleg of the 1970 Xmas album-plus-extras years ago.) In the end, we both cursed Apple while agreeing that those seven little picture sleeves make for a nice little item)
If anything, I think Apple should have just rereleased the 1970 fan club album with a few more things on it, accompanied by the book or whatever. But, yes, like everyone else, I have to agree what they have decided to put out still looks great!

The package is good but I wish there was a CD and Download option available as well.
I am glad that Apple are finally releasing these things though. We have had Live at the Hollywood Bowl, Sgt Pepper Deluxe Edition and now the Christmas records. So I am glad they are finally releasing all of this content.

Stolen diaries and other personal items from John have resurfaced in Berlin. They had been robbed from Yoko in 2006.

Further information about the recovered stolen Lennon items @Martha posted about from the BBC following a German police press conference.
Seems to be quite a haul they’ve recovered, over 100 items, and we get to see what John’s 1975, 1979 and 1980 diaries look like:

If anyone has a spare £8,950,000, Kenwood is up for sale. There’s a nice little 15-image slideshow of the internal and external as it is now.
I just read that Kenwood is still up for sale. https://thespaces.com/2017/11/…..-for-sale/ I guess anyone with £8.9 million is probably put off by the prospect of fans turning up on a pilgrimage? I know it’s on a private estate but I wonder how accessible it is. It’s always been a dream of mine to visit Kenwood.

The case of John’s stolen items gets even more exciting, now they have also found things like a handwritten sheet of Woman
A tape from a Beatles concert
Some sort of official document from John aka I’m the Greatest 😉
And John’s Ivor Novello award statue

Yoko is apparently very moved by getting the things back, I feel really happy for her too.

It’s funny some of the results I got from Google translate re the Spiegel article. “Yoko was very touchy”…”Lennon nickel goggles. One is still with the recipe of a New York optician”.
Wasn’t it also Spiegel who discovered the Hitler diaries?

Haha, the funny German language again.
There wasn’t too much new information in the article apart from the pictures most was already mentioned in the BBC article @Ron Nasty had made a link for. I found it interesting to know, though, that John had made an entry in the diary from 1980 on the horrible day he was shot and there’s also one of John’s old school notebooks from 1952 among all the things. If you’re really interested @Leppo, I could probably make a translation (still need to practice for my English exam anyway).
It was Stern, though, not Spiegel which published Hitler diaries, well, fake Hitler diaries, to be precise.

For those planning a Record Store Day visit on Black Friday:
Paul McCartney releases two 7″ discs, one on red vinyl and one on green, both featuring a new version of his song Wonderful Christmastime , with the help of The Roots. The B-side of one of the vinyl records is The Decemberists’ cover of Jesus Christ and the other is of Norah Jones singing Peace.

This I had to read twice just to make sure I’d read it right. Rob Fennah’s new play, Lennon’s Banjo, based on the novel Julia ‘s Banjo he wrote with Helen A Jones, is opening for a two week at the Epstein Theatre in Liverpool late next April. It is a comedic look at the search for Julia ‘s banjo, on which John strummed his first chords. For a couple of the performances, the character of Pete Best will be played by… PETE BEST! WTF!
I read the novel Julia ‘s Banjo some years ago and thought it was a great mix of fact and fiction with regards to the Beatles and the elusive banjo.
It made me smile – a really enjoyable read. So, when speaking to Rob Fennah about the book becoming a stage play, I said in passing ‘I should play me!’ And lo and behold, here I am doing a few of the performances.

Why you gotta throw shade at him, man? Just let him live his life, and if he wants that to be in the dark then so be it. You can’t blame him, either, considering the other three went about sacking him in a craven manner and wouldn’t even do it themselves.
