I wonder what the reasoning is behind this? There are already Beatle radio stations aren’t there? The songs are already available to stream on various sites and I doubt this will rival the level of exposure they get on Spotify.

^I think it’s going to be online for about 13 days, I can’t check the dates right now but I’m sure it’s mentioned that it runs from the middle of May ’til the end of May.

Part of the press release does make it sound like that
The Beatles Channel will launch at exactly 9:09 am ET on Thursday May 18, and will be celebrated as part of SiriusXM’s free listening preview program, offering 24/7 listening on inactive SiriusXM radios from May 17 to May 30.
On June 1, The Beatles Channel will celebrate “Pepper Day” on the 50th Anniversary of the band’s acclaimed Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, playing the album’s new Anniversary Edition stereo mix in its entirety. The album spotlight will be accompanied by commentary by the album’s original producer, the late George Martin, and by his son, Giles Martin, who produced the album’s new stereo and 5.1 surround mixes from The Beatles’ session tapes, guided by his father’s original, Beatles-preferred mono album mix.
shows it will be still on in June plus there is
Get Back: The Beatles in Britain: A monthly show recorded in and around London and Liverpool that offers the UK perspective of the Beatles phenomenon, hosted by Geoff Lloyd.

I just read it as it would be free until the end of May, and then it switches to their subscription model.

From TimeOut:
These never-before-seen photos of The Beatles are coming to a Chelsea gallery
The Morrison Hotel Gallery is premiering an an exclusive selection of images on June 1 that offer an insider’s perspective on the 1967 “All You Need Is Love ” session, part of the first-ever live global satellite broadcast. That broadcast, called Our World, featured performers from 19 different countries and was closed out by The Beatles’ performance.
Here’s a sneak peek (the group one we’ve definitely seen before):

I always wondered that myself. I wonder if it was the 1967 equivalent of a wristband. 🙂

Just come from Twitter where Sirius/XM has posted a little reminder about the Beatles Channel mentioned upthread (which will be Ch. 18) … THREE MORE DAYS! It’ll also include solo stuff from the four lads among the band’s stuff.
I do believe it’s up for a limited time, and tied in to the 50th ann. Sgt. Pepper celebrations. By the way, it debuts on May 18 at 9:09am ET (9:09 = One After 909 !) and I for one welcome it. I have Sirius/XM and it’ll be nice to just flip it on and Beatle Geek OUT for however long it’s broadcasting, ‘Any Time At All ‘.
From May 18-30 Sirius/XM is using the channel as a subscription drive thing, and it will be free to those with inactive satellite radios. After that period you must subscribe.

Treats are coming thick and fast at the moment it seems.
To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of The Cavern Club this year, Expedia UK has created The Cavern Club Chronicles.
A virtual tour of the venue using Google Street View, it includes over 35 points of interest as you wander around, there’s photos, quotes, video, bits about the history.
I’ve only had a brief look but it looks good.
Luckily I already know my way around.

That was nice except I noticed something odd, in one of the windows, they show guitars similar to John’s 2nd Rickenbacker, George’s Country Gent, and Paul’s 1st Hofner. The Beatles never used this combination because Paul got his 2nd Hofner right before the I Want To Hold Your Hand session and only swapped to his 1st Hofner when a string broke or for unknown reasons during the Revolution promo, as well as scarcely during the Get Back sessions but by then, Paul had put black rings round the pickups, which the bass in the window is missing.

According to Ultimate Classic Rock, in an interview on BBC Radio 2 with Simon Mayo yesterday, Giles Martin suggests that the White is next-up for the expanded/deluxe treatment:
The White Album , which is the next release – that is where they started becoming indulgent. There are 70 takes of Sexy Sadie , for instance. The efficiency went slightly out the window. There’s a lot of stuff. So, it’s getting the balance right.
