Nice pictures, although I would never pay $1,000 for them.

Maybe you should try posting more.

Who in their right mind would pay £1k for a picture?

Morecambe And Wise – Two Of A Kind: The Complete Series‘, which features the complete episode the Beatles appeared on, is available to buy on DVD (Region 2 only). If you do wish to purchase it you’ll have to do without too much delay as according to Wogblog

It’s only available for a short time, as Apple will only let them have it for a year.

Roy Orbison’s son, Alex, has bought the film rights to Jim Berkenstadt’s book about Jimmie Nicol, The Beatle Who Vanished.

The film is being made with George Hamilton and Alana Stewart’s son, Ashley Hamilton.

Also, not exactly breaking, but well worth mentioning in case it hasn’t already been, George’s Vevo channel got a major overhaul a couple of months ago. Lots and lots of new videos been added.

The children’s home immortalised by John Lennon in The Beatles hit Strawberry Fields Forever is to be redeveloped by the Salvation Army.

An £8m scheme has been unveiled for the home, where Lennon played as a child.

The venture will combine an education centre for young people with learning difficulties and an exhibition on the home, the song and Lennon’s early life…

…Major Drew McCombe, divisional leader for the North West branch of the charity, said: “Strawberry Field is special in the hearts of many people in Liverpool, the UK and across the world, and we at the Salvation Army are aiming to redevelop the site to do justice to the many people that have been supported by the children’s home or formed a connection with the iconic Beatles song.”

Remember how there was an official limited edition George Harrison turntable from Pro-Ject announced alongside the solo vinyl box?

Seems it was the first in a series of 6 official limited edition Beatles-related turntables from them. The second, called ‘1964’, has just been announced:

pj-debut-carbon-esprit-sb-the-beatles-1964-recordplayer-2mred-angled-isolated-1.pngImage Enlarger

The design of the George Harrison turntable struck me as strange at the time, as it seemed to be being associated with the solo vinyl box, yet the design featured a mid-’60s George. It makes a whole lot more sense as the first of a series of Beatles turntables.

That looks ghastly and cheap in the picture, hopefully it’s more aesthetic when viewed in person.

Rolling Stone has certainly lost a lot of credibilty, but I hope they are right on this one.

Paul and Ringo together in the studio?

Strawberry Field is being renovated:

“An £8m scheme has been unveiled for the home, where Lennon played as a child.

The venture will combine an education centre for young people with learning difficulties and an exhibition on the home, the song and Lennon’s early life…

The song’s refrain ‘and nothing to get hung about’ is said to be a reference to Lennon’s retort ‘they can’t hang you for it’ to Mimi about playing on the property.”

I am glad George Martin came around to liking Ringo and appreciating his talent/awesomeness/perfect fit for Harrison, Lennon, and McCartney.

Ahead of Flowers In The Dirt  being deluxed, Paul has put out a video of him and Elvis demoing My Brave Face. Some of the footage was included in the Put It There documentary, but much is new:

From Wogblog

According to The Sunday Times, a New edition of Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band is planned for release this year, with the single tracks “Penny Lane ” and “Strawberry Fields Forever ” added.

The newspaper says that “The 50th anniversary of the release of Sgt Pepper ’s Lonely Hearts Club Band this June will be marked with a worldwide re-release — and for fans it will mean at last hearing the album as the band had intended it to sound”.

According to the newspaper’s sources, the anniversary relaunch on June 1 will reinstate the two tracks, which George Martin agreed to release as a single several months before the album was in the shops. The Sunday Times quotes Paul McCartney :”We were then moving away from screaming girls’ gigs where no one could hear anything in the concert halls any more and were working on Sgt Pepper . John wrote this absolutely amazing song, Strawberry Fields Forever , for the new album and I was frankly a bit jealous, so I went home and wrote Penny Lane . It worked and we wanted them as the main tracks on Sgt Pepper .”

The Sunday Times also writes that “Although details of the re-release are being kept secret, it is understood that all parties involved have co-operated fully, including McCartney, Ringo Starr and Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison”.

Woo-fecking-hoo!!

To save money, I’d just play my original copy on vinyl, then switch to my copy of 1967 – 70 for where SFF and Penny Lane are added, and (if they are not the final tracks on this reissue) switch back to the Pepper album afterwards.

I’m not holding my breath, but it may be that there’s more extras than that.

Who knows, it may turn out to be a two-disc deluxe edition full of alternate takes when it’s actually announced.

One thing I will predict, I bet that one of the four Pro-Ject turntables that hasn’t been announced yet turns out to be Pepper-themed.

They’ll say that, but then they’ll back out and instead just reissue Sgt. Pepper ‘s with some sort of Sgt. Pepper Deluxe Pen or something like that.
