Anyone with a spare €1,395.

For an early solution to the Father’s Day gift conundrum, The Raymond Weil maestro Beatles Limited Edition, now available in Ireland for the first time, is the perfect gift for the ageing-hippie father.

The Swiss luxury watchmaker unveiled the timepiece earlier this year to celebrate the company’s 40th birthday. There are just 3,000 available, and features include the names of all 13 Beatles’ studio albums on the dial, and the Beatles’ logo decorated in sapphire crystal.

Those three albums (‘Beatles For Sale ‘ to ‘Rubber Soul ) have been squashed together as there are normally 12 sections on the watch and they have used 13 albums. Its still a nice watch but it makes it look a little bit off and therefore I wont be paying out €1,395.

I presume the 8 is there as a nod for ‘8 Days A Week’.

I’m now seriously considering buying the watch since I have lost mine.

Its highly expensive, the most expensive anything i will have ever bought, but its official Beatles. And I can get 15% off so wont be paying €1,395.

You see, Apple love me. Apple live for me and all those like me who see the word Beatles and go all gooey when they need something.

And for so so so so long I have resisted all that they issue that is in anyway useful. I’ve resisted books and pictures and all kinds of merchandise that looked so cool and all the other stuff that was utterly pointless.

“I feel as tho

you ought to know

That I’ve been good

as good as I can be…”

Does this make me a hypocrite or just someone with a major weakness and addiction?

All that money Apple never got from me would be returned in one quick click of “Purchase”.

If you are going to get it out of your system, you may as well do it on one expensive item you will cherish instead of a slow painful process of collecting officially licensed Beatles sewing needle sharpeners and such. Liken it to ripping off the Band-Aid instead of slowly pulling it off, arm hair and all.

BTW, does the watch play a little tune on Wednesday morning at 5 o’clock or Friday morning at 9 o’clock?

Oh my! Our boys are growing up a-hard-days-night-paul-10

I must admit I’m having trouble wrapping my head around it. I generally don’t associate great-grandparents with rocking and rolling. ahdn_george_06 Rather fitting, though, as he is the oldest Beatle.

It just occurred to me that our two living Beatles are the only ones with grandchildren. a-hard-days-night-ringo-12

I just read a little further down in that article I linked to.

Ringo is an avid Twitter user and earlier this month he celebrated reaching 1m followers with a colourful photo. He regularly signs off “peace and love” but sadly in March, the Liverpudlian had to use the micro-blogging site to announce the death of Sir George Best. paul-mccartney-facepalm_gif

The record producer, who was known as the ‘fifth Beatle’, passed away at the age of 90. Ringo tweeted: “God bless George Martin, peace and love to Judy and his family love Ringo and Barbara, George will be missed.”

If they are planning to reissue Paul’s catalogue does this mean it’s the end of the current reissue campaign?

That’s so cute that Richard is a great-grandpa now. That honestly makes him even cooler in my eyes.
(I may only feel this way because I was blessed with wonderful great-grandparents and the thought of somebody else having a great-grandparent warms my heart.)

It better not mean they go back to the start and we get another bloody reissue of ‘Band On The Run ‘ instead of ‘Red Rose Speedway ‘, ‘London Town ‘ or whatever albums we are still waiting for. It’s been 6 feckin’ years since the Archive Collection started and i’m not having it restarted now.

Maybe going to Capitol means they can allocate at least one more person to getting these together instead of the individual they currently have who only comes in when it’s snowing in the Sahara.

@Paul McCartney , GET A BLOODY MOVE ON!!!!!!!!

Also another example of Paul getting his facts wrong to make a nicer story.

This is genuinely exciting for me. Not only was Capitol my first U.S. record label, but the first record I ever bought was Gene Vincent’s ‘Be-Bop-A-Lula’ on the Capitol label.

No, Paul, your first US record label was Vee-Jay. Then you had Swan and Tollie. Capitol was your fourth US record label. It’s the reason 1964 went so mental so far as the US charts went, because so many of their 1963 recordings were with other record companies. Capitol were not first but, rather, late to the party.

Lol.

Well, if they do go back to the start I guess I won’t have a matching set.

x-posted from Live at the Hollywood Bowl

Well, I was listening to the lads on Spotify, switching between Abbey Road and Anthology 3 as I near the end of Geoff Emmerick’s book, and I noticed a new single by The Beatles. I’ve spotted the first official release of a Hollywood Bowl track!

As I’m sure was expected it’s a lot of screaming with some Beatles in the background… but the screaming is crystal clear!

Twist And Shout . I have a strange feeling this audio accompanies the moment where the GIF was created.

Now that we’ve got a minute and a half of it, how do you all think the recordings will turn out?

Here’s a small article about the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Candlestick Park gig which includes some video reports. http://abc7news.com/entertainm…..k/1487089/  That fence around the stage brings it home to you what a sad state of affairs gigging had become. They must have felt like they were in a zoo.

Ultimate Classic Rock report that Vintage King Audio are, on behalf of Lenny Kravitz, selling the Abbey Road REDD.37 console from Studio 1. Used in multiple Beatles sessions, from their early days, through orchestral overdubs, and the final overdubs for the Let It Be  album.

It is being sold alongside a four-track Studer J37 and the earlier two-track Studer C37, also both from Abbey Road .

Kravitz has had them since the ’90s, and they are said to be in pristine condition.

No price is mentioned. These are going for huge money though.
