Let’s be honest, would we want this young man
to have to walk into the ladies bathroom because Paul or Ringo played North Carolina, and they were born female…
Do we want a society where this young woman…
is forced to use the gents?
Sometimes you just have to say no, or else you’re supporting the discrimination.

I feel if he had the concert then the ones who are in favor of the bill or the politicians are having their cake and eating it to. Artists and other industries need to make the pockets hurt. I live in Mississippi and we just passed a worse bill. I hate the loss of revenue, but I am willing to take a sacrifice for the bills to be turned over. It is one the few ways these politicians will learn.
Besides werent The Beatles about peace and love? It would a bit hypocritical to play in a state that is not all about the peace and love. That’s my opinion.

If we follow that logic then most artists wouldn’t play anywhere as many countries and states / territories have objectionable laws on all sorts of issues from abortion to gay rights to human rights abuse.

^ I think the fact that it’s just been recently passed that is errking everyone. In this day and age we shouldn’t discriminate against fellow humans just because they may be “different”.
It’s active discrimination against a prominent part of society and I agree with all of the celebrities/performers cancelling or not going to North Carolina because of it- once the state sees how much money they are losing and the bad publicity N.C is getting, they’ll be more willing to repeal it.

Yeah, sod you NC
And it’s ‘irking’. 😛
Thanks to all these thoughtful replies I now see why Ringo has made his decision and I feel a little better about it… I just hope something actually gets done, though, because it’d be a shame for all this sacrifice to go to waste! Something should be done, anyway.

I agree with the cancellations. Businesses are also taking a stand. PayPal pulled plans for a 400 person office in Charlotte for one. While I feel for the fans, this hits NC right in the wallet. I do as well like what Cyndi Lauper is doing. She’s still playing in Raleigh on June 4 but all the proceeds are going to Equality North Carolina. She’s using the gig and taking the day to help get HB2 repealed.

I get that its crap that fans cant see Ringo, Bruce or Bryan but there is more to life than a pop concert. I’d far rather Ringo took a stand against social injustice in doing this (and he will lose out – cue folk bitching that he can afford it) instead of parroting the line of how awful it is but he doesnt want to let the fans down so the show goes on. The Councillors will [almost certainly] not give one gram of their breakfast dump if a famous singer shakes his/her fist and says “naughty” in a stern voice; they care about getting voted back in and their nice pay.I mentioned the Neil Young video for a reason. He actively protested when he was on that tour – sang protest songs on stage – had fans walk out in disgust and filmed that. It was all over the media in those states. Much more effective in my opinion than not showing up.
The Beatles in Manila is another – albeit unintended – example of what being there can do to highlight an issue.
A nice gesture, but the fans already paid the money for the tix, hotels, food, etc… So, effectively the local economy said “hey we get what you are laying down. Thanks just the same for all the revenue, hope ya had a nice time, see you again next year”.
What the cancellations do is put across the same message without rewarding the local economy with millions of dollars. The fans, instead of saying “don’t blame us”, should be writing to their representatives saying “don’t blame us if you don’t get re-elected”.
Don’t hate Ringo for making a stand.

As a non-US citizen, I probably don’t really have a voice in all of this, but I’m chiming in anyway. I, too, agree with the boycott. It’s insane that such laws can exist anno 2016 in a civilised – at least that’s what it’s supposed to be – country like the USA. It’s a drag for the fans, I’ll definitely give you that. Then again, I always hear Americans go on about how you can write to your senator or whatnot if you don’t agree with legislation, and ow that’s a part of the direct democracy and stuff like that. This seems like a good a time as any to do just that: tell those politicians to take their law and stick it up their arse. Only you, the US citizens with a good heart, can do that. The rest of the world can only sit back and wonder how such a law could possibly have been passed in the first place.

Four conferences due to be held in NC have been cancelled, losing over a 1000 hotel room nights.
A further 22 do not look like going ahead.
PayPal had planned to build a hub in NC, based on $3.7 million of aid, bringing 400 jobs to the State. They have pulled out of the deal.
It is only by hitting them in the pocket that the lesson is taught to never abuse the election cycle like this again.
It will be struck down by the Supreme Court of the State or Nationally for being unconstitutional. It’s dog whistle politics of the worst kind.
And what’s worse is that it’s damaging ordinary NC citizens, who have had transgender individuals using the public toilet that it right for them for decades.

If you are well-read on the subject, don’t let your nationality get in the way. With all of the available info on the web these days, the world is getting smaller and borders less defined (in some cases, anyway). The only time it bugs me is when people spout off their opinions without having a clue about what the real story is on the ground – not just the news sites.

Goldenvoice In Talks to Bring Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Rolling Stones and More to Coachella Site
Paul McCartney , the Rolling Stones, Roger Waters, Neil Young, The Who and Bob Dylan are among the mega star acts booked for what will be one of the biggest concerts in history at the Coachella site in Indio, Calif., according to multiple sources. Goldenvoice Entertainment will produce the event, which the LA Times reports will take place Oct. 7-9.
The concert will surely boast one of the highest talent budgets in history, even for a three-day festival; one source says the top headliners on the bill are guaranteed as much as $7 million each, with the possibility of a second weekend still being discussed. While contracts are still being finalized, organizers are planning the Stones and Dylan the first night, followed by McCartney and Young with his Promise of the Real touring outfit the second, with former Pink Floyd frontman Waters and the Who closing out the final night.
The event will be Goldenvoice’s third festival on the Empire Polo Field site. Coachella, which already boasts two identically-booked weekends, kicks off today (April 15) and will continue next weekend, with the country music festival Stagecoach taking over the grounds the weekend after, beginning April 29. It would also be the second new Goldenvoice-produced festival confirmed this month; last week, the Pasadena City Council approved the promoter’s plans for a multi-day event to be held at the Rose Bowl beginning in 2017 called the Arroyo Seco Music and Arts Festival

^ I have no clue, they aren’t on streaming sites yet so it could just be a digital reissue?
Actually thinking about it now, Dhani could be in Abbey Road to oversee any final adjustments to any Wilbury material as well as doing his own stuff.

Streaming is far more likely than a physical re-release. Am actually surprised that you cant stream it already, thought ever band under the sun were ahead of the Beatles – heck I though bands who hadn’t existed yet signed up to streaming ahead of Apple.
