Tonight on AMC at 9/8c there’s going to be a 75th birthday concert for John Lennon . Ringo and Paul will be there performing along with Stevie Wonder, John Fogerty, John Mellencamp, Steven Tyler, Eric Clapton, and many others.

I put this on the TV thread, but I figured more people would see it on here. Plus it’s such exciting news!

Only music can save us.

It must be from an alternate universe in which John was born on 19 December.

Maybe John Lennon is like the queen of England, where he has an actual birthday and an observed one.

I jut think it’s a case that it’s a remembrance that John would have been 75 this year and was always intended as something for the Christmas schedule. One of performances included is actually Happy Xmas (War Is Over).

I suppose they wanted to make clear they were celebrating 75 years since his birth, and not commemorating 35 years since his death.

Paul attended a basketball game in Brooklyn yesterday and caught a free T-shirt. So cool to see someone of his magnitude still thrilled by the smaller things in life.

Here he is celebrating his big moment. Meanwhile, Nancy consults with her solicitor…

showbiz411 report some Beatles figures, (presumably for the US only but happy to be corrected).

According to SoundScan, the Beatles’ $50 “1 + 1” box set has sold an impressive 10,700 copies since November 6th.

The “1” CD, released in 2000, brainchild of the last Neil Aspinall, has sold 12.6 million copies in the U.S. This year alone, “1” has sold 182,000 copies.

On the SoundScan year end catalog list– that’s all records released up until 2 years ago– the Beatles have at least 4 albums in the top 100.

This year alone, the vinyl version of “Sgt. Pepper ” has sold 43,000 copies. The vinyl version, mind you. (So glad I kept the original.)

Abbey Road ” is number 4 on the list of LPs sold this year.

And considering the amount of reports out there (tho no official word) its almost certain the Beatles music will be streaming from Christmas Eve. But then we all thought it was almost certain we’d see a 1964 official Bootleg release. There is a thread for the streaming here.

Zig, perhaps that is a picture from a different day when Paul was trying to catch a shirt but didn’t get one. Nancy was wearing yellow when he actually caught one…or Nancy does wardrobe changes during games.

EDIT: http://larrybrownsports.com/ev…..deo/285641

Zig’s picture is from 2013 when Paul tried but failed to catch a t-shirt. He did catch on this past Sunday, 20 December 2015.

Must keep the record straight on Nancy wardrobe and the timeline of Paul catching t-shirts. Yes, we must. That’s what we do.

IT’S HAPPENING, PEOPLE! This Christmas Eve, the Beatles will be available on some unannounced streaming services! a-hard-days-night-john-3 http://www.billboard.com/artic…..ve-sources

Has this person every listened to the Beatles? They use syncopation and “multi-chordal harmonies.” Sorry, but using technicalities still doesn’t really explain why you don’t like the Beatles. So what you didn’t grow up with them? That’s like saying, “I didn’t grow up having a career, so when I’m older and need money I’m more interested in residing in my parent’s basement.”

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but the question is whether or not it is supported well.

Liverpool Echo story: Why is Ringo a step behind the other Fab Four statues?

Why is Ringo Starr one step behind the other Fab Four statues at Liverpool’s Pier Head?

The question has sparked a row among Beatles fans on social media, with some slamming the drummer but others leaping to his defence.

More at the link.

I think Ringo is awesome.

Aren’t those statues based on a photograph? If so, then that’s probably why: because it’s that way in the picture.

He obviously died and was replaced by Bingo.

More annoying than the actual nonsense of the story is the fact the garbage has been reported as news. Idiots arguing online doesnt make a story worth reporting.

YAY!!! Revolver at #2! beatlemaniacs_02_gif And I’m pleased to see that all my favourite Beatles albums are on there. Except Beatles For Sale

But wow, I’m surprised that the White Album did better than Abbey Road or Sgt Pepper ‘s.
