The voice I heard in my head while reading the letter was John’s (ie I heard it like he was reading it aloud to me). Do you ever “hear” one of their voices when reading something like this?

Not here.

Hearing voices???  🙂

Just Beatley ones, thankfully.

The best part for me was being told that Cilla, in a photo with nine men, was the one wearing the pink dress. I’d never have spotted her otherwise.

It was a nice interiew – thanks for posting it @Ron Nasty .

I did have a hard time spotting her, so I found the caption helpful.

Myself, what I thought was good about the interview, is the interviewer (in print interviews) usually says what an awkward barsteward he can be to interview, with a long list of questions that can’t be asked. She didn’t choose to make those points (though probably given the same instructions). Maybe, in the wake of Cilla’s death (who he knew longer than he knew any of The Beatles), he was in a mood to reflect.

Though, obviously, he’s speaking truth on cow and goat molecules. Cows are bigger than (most) goats, so has bigger molecules. And if a cow has bigger molecules than a goat, it makes sense that the molecules in cows milk must be bigger than in goats milk. Isn’t that how it works?

I think there is a new magazine thread but cant find it and here is fine.

The Beatles are the feature artist in the November issue of ‘Mojo‘. Details taken from their website (thanks to wogblog for the heads up).

It’s The Beatles! This month, as Apple prepare to reissue them with extraordinary restored video elements, MOJO celebrates all of the Fabs’ 27 Number 1 singles: unearthing the stories behind the songs that rocked the world. Plus! John Vs Paul: The Truth! Paul McCartney tells Paul Du Noyer what really went on inside the world’s greatest hit-making team, while the FREE covermount CD presents 15 killer Songs The Beatles Taught Us: Beatle faves from The Isleys to Barrett Strong. Also in the issue: Jean-Michel Jarre, Georgie Fame, Chrissie Hynde, David Bowie, Songhoy Blues, Bob Johnston, Dischord Records, King Crimson, Joanna Newsom, John Peel and U2. Yeah, yeah, and thrice yeah!

CONTENTS / MOJO 264

  • FREE CD! Songs The Beatles Taught Us MOJO presents the original versions of 15 tracks covered by John, Paul, George and Ringo, including Shout, Money, Please Mr. Postman and more by the likes of Buddy Holly, Ray Charles, The Isley Brothers and The Marvelettes!
  • THE BEATLES NUMBER 1s! As Apple (the Fab one, not the computer one) unleash all 27 chart-toppers in an exciting new package, MOJO salutes the songs that changed the world forever, with a year-by-year examination of Fab Four chart-topping from 1963-1970, packed with feedback, freakitude and Na-Na-Na-Nas.
  • PLUS! PAUL ON JOHN Inside the ultimate hit-making team! Macca unburdens to Paul Du Noyer in an exclusive extra from the MOJO writer’s new book.

Scientists have worked out the 20 most iconic songs of all time with John at number 2 with ‘Imagine ‘ and The Beatles at #6 with ‘Hey Jude ‘.

Far more interesting to me is that Elvis is at number 20 with ‘Hotel California’, only 7 places behind The Eagles with their ‘Hotel California’.

Seems there may be a new Beatles animated movie on the way. Paul King, director of 2014’s Paddington, is in talks to direct a movie called Meet The Beatles.

…not much is known about the movie other than it will be chasing a song considered the “one that got away,” it will feature songs that span the Beatles career.

Hopefully it’s not the missing tapes from “Broad Street” again 🙂

The Mirror reports that Labour’s Shadow Culture Secretary, Michael Dugher, has called for Ringo to be Knighted.

The Beatles changed the course of popular music forever and they continue to bring massive benefits to the UK in terms of trade and tourism.

Ringo’s unique drumming was intrinsic to the music of the Beatles – just listen to A Day In The Life or Strawberry Fields Forever – and his charisma and personal charm was an intrinsic part of their act as entertainers.

Ringo is a legend and has made a massive contribution to our country. It’s been over 50 years since he got his MBE.

At the age of 75, it’s time for Ringo to get a knighthood for services to music. No other country in the world would take so long to properly honour one of its music legends.

[EDIT] Even though I don’t go for all that “honours’ lark – if anyone gets one he might as well be the one!

No insult intended to Nirvana fans; but I reckon that they don’t span generational lines as much as many of the other artists on the list, and I have never heard of that Elvis song 🙂

The Beatles contract with Brian Epstein has sold for £365,000/$550,000.

It has gone up in value. From the article: “It last went under the hammer in 2008 at an auction in London when it went for £240,000.”

The Liverpool Echo reports that among the lots at Adam Partridge Auctioneers sale in Liverpool on 4 November will be Johnnie Hamp’s reel-to-reel tape of the audio of 22 August 1962 Cavern performance of Some Other Guy (Apple bought a copy of the tape in 1993 for £16,500), and a miniature Bible once owned by (and signed by) the real Eleanor Rigby . It’s one of only two known examples of her signing her name.
