I think I read about that on the Elvis forum I’m on. It sounds like it might be really bad. What makes me say that is that the blurb says of Elvis’s tragedy that “the seeds of it are sown here in this meeting.” I don’t really think that’s true. I think Elvis’s decline had nothing to do with The Beatles and he could have cared less about meeting them.

Whenever you read bout the meeting between Elvis and The Beatles it’s either “It was horrible” or “They had a good time.” It’s always “Elvis hated The Beatles” or “Elvis liked The Beatles.” I think for whatever reason people have hidden agendas here, and I’m not sure if I trust the author of this play.

Maybe different people tell the story differently based upon when they were in the room during the evening and their level of “altered” consciousness while observing the meeting. Just a random thought I had.

You caught that too, eh? “Bono’s hair, Bono’s hair, Bono’s hair, Bono’s hair. Meanwhile, the John Lennon Amnesty International Tapestry was presented…”.

Yoko looks spry for a person her age. More power to her.

Big important news is Bono’s hair colour. No doubt it will change someone’s life knowing that its now slightly more ginger than before.

Are you sure its the Daily Mail as every story the Daily Mail reports has got some note of Princess Diana. Its their unwritten law. If there isnt someone will be in a pub just now mulling over their being sacked for gross negligence.

EDIT to the point I am about to spit nails.

There’s conflicting information out there. No wonder I was confused. It may be tonight, but at 7:45.

Maybe they are running behind schedule, because the act before Paul is still on stage.

Ugggggg. Now I have it figured out.

Paul performs tonight, but they are NOT going to stream it live. They will show highlights from Paul’s show on Sunday at 7:30 but only in the US and Canada.

Paul and Ringo’s reactions to the sad death of Cilla Black.

Paul has issued a statement saying:

Such a shock to hear about Cilla’s passing. She was a lovely girl who infected everyone with her great spirit. From first meeting her as a cloakroom girl at The Cavern in Liverpool, to seeing her many times since, she always had a fun loving dignity that made her a great pleasure to be around. She had a fine distinctive voice and was always a bit of a laugh. It was a privilege to know and love her.

And Ringo has tweeted:

I just heard the news Cilla black has left us she was a good friend we will all miss her peace to Cilla peace and love to the family R&B xxx

From her 1968 TV series (for which Paul wrote Step Inside Love as the theme tune), Ringo and Cilla:

Sorry to have gotten everyone so excited for naught. I know better than to rely on news reports. I should have studied the actually Lollapalooza site before making a post.

George Harrison and Ringo Starr waxworks can now be seen at the Biblewalk museum in Mansfield Ohio. It seems the museum bought waxworks from a defunct Madame Tussauds. I saw some rather low res images and I think Ringo is now a disciple wearing a green robe at the last supper. I can’t find the picture again to post.

From The Examiner:

Over the 24 years The Beatles Shop has been organizing the annual Beatles Memorabilia Auction several unusual and rare Beatles items have passed through the shop’s hands, Beatles Shop manager Stephen Bailey told Beatles Examiner Aug. 25. This year, he said, they are very excited by the discovery of some rare sketches drawn by Paul McCartney . He said the drawings are expected to sell for over £10,000 (roughly $15,696) next week when theLiverpool Beatle Auction is held during International Beatle Week, which takes place Aug. 26 to Sept. 1. You can see several pictures of them in the slide show on this page.

The sketches were discovered by the vendor in an attic, he said, and they include include Beatlesque faces drawn in ink. Each sheet also has writing by Paul McCartney on the reverse. “This is an amazing find.” Bailey says. “People usually think of John as the artistic Beatles but these drawings show Paul’s talent for capturing an image in a quick sketch.”

The sketches are going to be auctioned on Saturday. Aug. 29 at the Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts (LIPA) in the school’s Paul McCartney Auditorium. A public viewing will be held the day before the auction at the same venue.

More at the link. [x-posted to the art by the Beatles thread]
