How I do want that mono set…  I cheated and downloaded the mono FLAC discs, until I can find the box for a reasonable price (or I just have the money to pay retail).

I was going through some old boxes yesterday and I found a bit of sadder memorabilia.  A copy of the Toronto Sun with George’s death on the cover and a copy of the Toronto Star the day after John’s murder.  I kept everything:  The sports section, the flyers, everything.  It’s amazing because almost every single story in every section of the paper was about John.

I’ve got two copies of the 1963 fan club record, and one copy of the 1964 one. They were my mum’s (and probably still are but I can’t see her asking for them back).

On the subject of vinyl, when I got into The Beatles in the early 90s I could pick up vinyl albums for about £3-5, singles for half that. I bought a few but never got round to getting the whole set. Now they cost about 10x what they did, and I wish I’d bought more when I could. I’ve got all of Lennon’s and a few McCartney and Harrison albums on vinyl, but wish I’d bought a White Album when I had the opportunity.

I just think about the ‘Beatle Burning’ stations in the southern United States…  All those original albums and singles…  Gone.

LOVE to know how many of those idiots bought & burned newly-released butcher-sleeve copies of “Yesterday & Today”!

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Some of the more obscure things I have are foreign singles and albums (eg indian, australian, japanese), a couple of picture discs, a promo cd for Live At The BBC , and some promotional marketing thing for when Yellow Submarine came out in 1999.

Also have the first 4 uk albums on what is described as “3 3/4 inch twin track mono tape record” and a handful of us albums on 7 1/2 inch tape. I have no idea what all that means but they look like the Pepper one below. I got the UK ones in a shop in Kilmarnock and the rest in Glasgow. Doubt they are worth much at all (not why i bought them) but ive never seen any ever again in shops and they are something different to own.

Yikes!

That’s my thing. See the Into the Sky thread in the book section of this forum (or http://on.wsj.com/A67nc3 despite the crummy picture of me). The book’s in a sense written around my collection going back a few decades. I upload items on the Forum when it fits into an ongoing conversation. My favorite items are the ones that are either rare or seem quite mundane but reflect a great story. An example of the latter would be tickets to the Kansas City concert in ’64 …

It’s 11:30 PM in New York, so to be continued.

[P.S. I swear I didn’t ask SatanHimself to start this thread]

I dunno if this counts as memorabilia.. but I got this t-shirt.. a friend had the idea from a sticker on a car I saw months ago and I got one just for giving him the idea. He says that just a few people got whose signature it is. a-hard-days-night-paul-11

I was going to post some pics of some great stuff I got at a record store in the middle of nowhere, but it looks like you have to have a Photobucket or Flickr account to put pics up…

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8Or you can be a sneaky fellow and upload pictures to a Facebook account, copy the image address, and then upload it to the forum via the tree icon. I’ve done that before…perhaps it will work for you? a-hard-days-night-ringo-10

Nope.  I tried, but it didn’t work.  My FB is locked down settings-wise, so that’s probably the reason.

I’ll be posting pics soon for my Class Project thread, so I guess I’ll just make a Photobucket account for this sort of thing.

I was looking for something that didn’t require me to do any thinking.  I’m exhausted, after a stretch of days at the cottage way up north…

Here are some pics!

Note the Canadian-only ‘Long Tall Sally ‘ album.  The copy of ‘Revolver ‘ is a Canadian mono.  And yes, like the U.S. Capitol version, it pointlessly omits 2 songs…

Some Beatley 45s!  The George one is a double A-side, so there’s no “inside slice” on the flip side.

This was a little scrapbooked thingie inside of my copy of ‘Long Tall Sally ‘.  It’s a nice feeling to know that some kid went out of their way to cut and glue this.  It now will live out its life on my fridge.

This is a nice detail of the “Something ” single.

Just to be a right pain in the neck (sorry) the US (and therefore i presume Canada too) omitted 3 songs from Revolver not 2.

(Yes i am that type of person but then i’ll move non-beatles cd’s out of the beatles racks in music shops – they just shouldnt be there. (I know it was a typo but it had to be corrected (unless you think one song should have been omitted in which case i retract this post) – mainly because if i saw it in a book id be screaming at it)).

Again apologies.

Yes, it is 3 songs, not 2.  Sorry about that.  I didn’t notice the absence of “I’m Only Sleeping “.

After the Canadian-only trifecta of ‘Beatlemania!’, ‘Twist And Shout ‘ and ‘Long Tall Sally ‘, all Canadian LPs mirror their U.S. counterparts.

I went to a local boutique record shop today, specifically because I knew they had this…

I’ve had a bootleg of ‘RAM’ in mono for years, and now I have a nice thick pristine vinyl copy!

What the hell’s that red Apple label on LIB ? I’ve never seen one of those before. I know the original UK release had a red apple on the back, but not on the label.

Is that one of the new mono Ram reissues? Looks like you’ve got a good record shop there.

In place of the Granny Smith apple apple01, in the US (to symbolize the soundtrack was distributed by UA) it was a red apple. I’ve got one as well.

Sat and/or sun king I have a question: I read somewhere that billy was credited on the song he played on let it be. Is that true? Since you have the lp you can possibly tell me. Is billy credited more tyan on the special thanks to part?

Billy Preston is listed in the ‘thanks’ on the back, but that’s it.  Nary a mention of him anywhere else.
