In Avengers: Infinity War, after Tony Stark says the Avengers broke up, Bruce Banner says “Like a band? Like the Beatles?”

In the first book of The Trials of Apollo (by Rick Riordan, the author of the Percy Jackson books)  Apollo, the Greek god of music and poetry, mentions some of his biggest regrets after he has been transformed into a mortal as a punishment:

“I remembered that day at Abbey Road Studios, when my envy led me to set rancour in the hearts of John and Paul and break up The Beatles.” (chapter 8)

Apollo also mentions in book 2 that he performed with The Beatles at the Shea Stadium concert in 1966, but was pissed that Paul wouldn’t let him lend his microphone.

It’s also briefly mentioned in the last Percy Jackson book that The Beatles were demi-gods (and I’m still trying to figure out who their individual godly parent is supposed to be) .

I saw Sixteen Candles when it came out in 1984. The Beatles references went right over my head. I watched the movie the other day and they jumped out at me. They are in the first 12 seconds of the clip.

In Avengers: Endgame Tony Stark refers to Nebula as the Blue Meanie.

In an episode of Frasier I was watching today, Daphne said: “If Eddie were a Beatle he would be George.”

In the sitcom Peep Show S2E6 there are two Beatles references.

Firstly, stereotypical Yoko reference. Mark is talking to Super Hans about Jeremy’s prospective wife:

Mark: So listen, I wanted to have a chat about Nancy.

Super Hans: You mean Yoko? Hello marriage, goodbye major recording contract.

And then Mark making conversation at a party:

Mark: So, er, old question, but John or Paul, who was the best? I mean, Paul, obviously, but for the sake of argument.

The 2004 action-RPG video game “Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines” contains a cheeky reference to “Doctor Robert ” within a computer terminal in a Santa Monica hospital. As shown here:

This video from 1995’s Yo La Tengo – “Tom Courtenay” from their album “Electr-O-Pura”

Also, in that album there’s a song called “Paul is dead” ahdn_paul_01

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8 Could also go in the “Songs with Beatles references” thread, @Shamrock Womlbs, with the lines:

I spent so much time dreaming about Eleanor Bron
In my room with the curtains drawn
See her in the arms of Paul
Say it, I can say no more

#beatlesedit from krishna krishnaImage Enlarger

It was the lyrical reference to Eleanor Bron and Paul helped inspire the video.

In the internet-comic book series for the video game “Team Fortress 2”, part one of the series features a panel in the top right corner where it implies that rather than ‘Paul is Dead’, it’s ‘Beatles are Dead’. One can only assume who are the in-game Fohn, Faul, Feorge and Fingo’s.

Was watching Pointless a couple of nights ago, the pair who made the final chose the category “Supergroups” out of the four offered; which gave them a Cream greatest hits, a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young greatest hits, and The Traveling Wilburys Collection to name a pointless answer for the £14,000+ jackpot.

Two of their answers were “Handle with Care” and “Handle Me with Care”.

They didn’t win.

Handle with Care scored four or something. The only tracks on the Wilburys set that scored were Handle with CareEnd of the LineHeading for the LightCongratulations, and Tweeter and the Monkey Man. Everything else was pointless.

Something older:

TV Total was VERY big show in germay for over 16 years. It was kind of Late Night with lots of Gags, guests and music.

They made fun of everything. Once they had a show part called “Der schwächste fliegt – super brain” which would mean as much: the most weak one goes off – superbrain. It was about stupid answers giving to easy questions in a quiz show where they made fun of the wrong answer in explaining why its right ahdn_john_08_gif

Here comes the Beatles part. Question was: “welches englische Wort für schlag versteckt sich hinter dem Namen der Pilzköpfe” which means: “which english word for beat stands for the mushroom heads?” (the question doesnt work in englisch a-hard-days-night-paul-11mccartney-shrug_01_gif). Answer from the candidate: “HIT” So the show explained that “of course that is correct because normal candidates would have thought of the Beatles and would have ashamed themselves. Of course there are the Hitlers! Who does not know the Album “Adolfs loney hearts club band”, the legendary brown album and naturally Addie Road?! Basic knowledge for superbrain candidates.”

Been laughing so hard to this for years

Check it out, starts at 3:02

Imagine ‘ seems to have the power to turn normal sensible people (or who you think would be) into mentally seething messes whilst they completely miss what John was saying.

From Deerhoof’s bandcamp about their Holdypaws album: “Saunier (Deerhoof’s drummer) observes. ‘I didn’t even play drums on that album, i sampled one bass drum hit from Ringo Starr ‘s drum solo on Abbey Road and loaded it into a keyboard […]’ “
