I want to create a semi-comprehensive timeline of the many facial hair explorations of the Beatles, because I’m the kind of guy who likes to know all that stuff. Please don’t think I’m weird for that. Any new information will be appreciated.
(note: only covers the time when the Beatles existed, solo facial hair, if done at all, will be at a later date.
John
John grew a mustache at the end of 1966 and kept it until around early June 1967. He then grew mutton chops at the end of the year, which later morphed into a full-fledged beard in Rishikesh, which he shaved off after he got back. John grew another beard from February-March 1969, and despite a brief period in October-November (during which the Something music video was filmed), he kept the beard for the next year or so.
Paul
Paul grew his mustache a bit earlier than John and the others did, around fall 1966. He shaved it off for the Sgt. Pepper launch party, and then grew it back in India. Like John, he shaved when he got back. Paul grew another beard in late 1968 (which also began his mullet phase), but shaved it off in February 1969. He grew it back at the end of the year though.
George
George grew a mustache in September 1966 while visiting India. He shaved it at the beginning of the Sgt. Pepper sessions, but quickly replaced it with a full-fledged beard. Around mid-February 1967, he went back to the mustache. George shaved it off for the February ‘68 sessions, and grew it back in India. He then went clean-shaven in July 1968, and after a brief period at the end of the White Album sessions where he grew another mustache, he shaved it again. He grew it again for the Let It Be sessions, and shaved it in March 1969. A couple months later, it was back again, and it grew into a full beard in July. George seems to have shaved it off for his Delaney And Bonnie cameos, but grew it back in 1970.
Ringo
Ringo had a beard before he joined The Beatles, and he briefly grew it again in January 1966. He seems to have started growing his Pepper-era mustache a bit later than the others by judging the December ‘66 footage. He shaved the mustache for the Lady Madonna sessions, but grew it into a beard following his exit from Rishikesh. He shaved it again for the beginning of the White Album sessions, but grew it back in July 1968. He grew it into a beard in August 1969, which he has kept for most of his life since.
That was likely the cringiest thing you ever read there, but despite that, thanks for coming to my TED talk *walks out of room and shuts the door*.

Haha I randomly Google the thread title, and this was the first result! Outstanding research there, LIB …
Surely our boys were photographed so frequently and regularly over a seven-year period that it’d not be impossible for some obsessed researcher to track every haircut each one received over the course of the band. We know George had one on the day before they went to America, that’s a start…
