Hello Forum!
I'm Ellie, Joe's wife and occasional frequent Beatle widow .
As you may know we're having a baby in May .
We've recently found out we're having a boy and wondered if anyone could help us out in narrowing down a name choice. At the moment he's called Ringo (after Joe's favourite!*) but this is just a working title!
I wondered what suggestions Joe's fellow Fab Forum members could suggest – something Beatlesy – bu not obviously so! At the moment, Joe has put Bungalow Bill, Jude and Mr Kite on the list – not sure I can really endorse any of these.
Help !

Hi Ellie!!!
Well I think Harrison is a cool name. I'm fond of John James or Richard James, or George Richard. I also like John's children names, Julian and Sean, and Ringo's kid Zak. And of course, they're not that obvious.
Now if I ever had a kid I'd name him in a heartbit John Paul. The disadvantage? People might believe he was named after the late Pople John Paul II
It's really nice to see you around Ellie!! Love your avatar pic, very appropiate

Yay, Ellie (and Joe)! A boy!
One of my friends has a boy named Jude. I rather like that name, because it doesn't seem that common (at least with those I grew up with.) Max might also do the trick if you're looking for something not so obvious. I'm not in that phase right now where I am thinking of baby names, but I have to agree that you couldn't go wrong with Harrison, or even Lennon, as…was it Liam? Gallagher did. Although, you never know, there may be a lot of Harrys in his school, because of that famous boy wizard. 🙂

Well, but imagine this conversation.
– “Oh so you're Harry. Like Harry Potter”
– “Well not really, my name is Harrison”
– “Oh, like Harrison Ford?”
– “No, like George Harrison ”
Cue to ooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhs.
Note to Ellie : If you say Joe that I vote for the name Harrison, he might say “Go figure”. I'm a huge George fan.

I like Harry at the moment, but Ellie's less keen as it's quite common here in the UK. There's the Harry Nilsson connection, of course, and also he'd be Harry Son.
I found this on another site, obviously for both boys and girls. Not sure about some of them (VeeJay? Britain?).

Hello Ellie,
Yesterday , as I was getting ready to log off this site (I didn't want to, but the drive home from work pretty much necessitated it!), I thought I saw you logged on but thought maybe Joe was tinkering with something behind the scenes. It's great to hear from you. I echo mithveaen's applause over your choice of avatars – very cool.
As for the topic at hand… One could make an argument for the name Elvis, because as John has stated, “without Elvis…” – you know the rest I'm sure.
But I think, if you are looking for something a tad less obvious, I submit Carl Henry. George and Ringo both loved Carl Perkins and John sang of Henry the Horse dancing a waltz.
In any event, my wife and I wish you and Joe nothing but the best.
Peace and Love

Blue?! Kids have been named odder things, I suppose.
I like the way Asher sounds, and maybe Shea, but save Ringo for your next cat. 🙂
I hadn't known my name was connected to a Beatles song (or rather, a song covered by the Beatles) . *No one* should want to shimmy like me, unless they are hoping to frighten people.

Perusing the list of Beatles songs, it seems like they have more names for girls than boys. You could go with Maxwell, but who knows what that kid could get up to. I agree with Jude, I like that one, but it might be a bit obvious. You could go the George route and use a common name just with a different spelling like Jhohn.

ROFLMAOOOO!! That and Eric's son truly made my day.
Ok so no Harrison. Well. . How about Corelle? It means Ring Star in Elvish!! Ok no. Bad idea. . How about Macca? Ok no.
Well from the list, MacKenzie is a first name. And if you use it as a middle name would be cool. John MacKenzie sounds cool.
And I add my wishes to Zig's for you and Joe.

Hi Elllie, glad you could finally show up here!
Don't think that my advice will be of any use whatsoever, since I have to say that neither John, Paul nor George is a name that I particularly care for, personally. And Ringo is pretty obviously out of the question, although I think Richard is ok. (I hate “Richie”, however, for some reason.)
How about Winston? I think that has a nice ring to it, although “Win” or “Winnie” would probably invite ridicule.
(Curious omissions from that mammoth list of Joe's: Linda, Maureen, Mal, Prudence, Loretta, Rocky, Pablo. Unsurprising omission: Yoko. Most wtf?: Klein)
The following people thank vonbontee for this post:
BeatlebugGEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Wow – thanks guys! Some interesting suggestions – and some good ones. And I agree that Ringo is best as a cat's name.
Also thanks for all the hellos – it's really nice to make your acquaintances.
Currently I'm trying to persuade Joe that “Pepper” is a really, really cool middle name. We shall see.
I think we'll have to meet him (or possibly her – you never know perhaps the scan lady misconstrued certain artefacts on the screen…) and then decide. We've got 16 weeks or so to go so I'm sure Joe will keep you posted.
