I had posted this link earlier today in the “news” section — the RS article said this was John’s “Paperback Writer ” guitar, but I swear he used his Epiphone Casino for that song, not this Gretsch guitar that the article spotlights.
Not a bit like Cagney.

In the 2 color Videos of Rain & Paperback Writer , I believe John is using his Casino, but I was not present when they did the actual music recording!

Thanks for the Star-Club link!

Vintage Cavern Club card signed by five Beatles among items in upcoming auction
Did you do a double take when you read the # in that headline? I did.
Got $10K to spare?
Another vintage item in the sale (lot #89324) is a copy of the Beatles’ first Parlophone single “Love Me Do ” obtained at the group’s first record signing and autographed by the band. According to the auction house, the signing was held the day after the record was released at Dawson’s Music Shop on Church Street in Widnes, Cheshire. George Harrison signed the disc on the pushout center spindle with Ringo Starr , Paul McCartney and John Lennon adding their signatures around the label. Heritage estimates it is worth at least $10,000.

From The Examiner:
A long-lost original recording of The Beatles singing an unreleased version of the song “Some Other Guy” at The Cavern in 1962 that was discovered in a desk drawer by producer Johnnie Hamp 50 years later is to go under the hammer later this year and be sold by Adam Partridge Auctioneers in Liverpool, Hamp said March 30. The auction house will announce March 31 the tape will be sold at its upcoming Rock & Pop Memorabilia auction on Nov. 4, according to a press release, which said Hamp will donate all of the proceeds of the tape’s sale to charity.

That recording of ‘Some Other Guy’ is unreleased but has been booted. The benefit it would give if ever it surfaced is better quality.
Meanwhile, another interesting, earlier tape has been found, which is the song “Some Other Guy” recorded at the Cavern Club in Liverpool September 5th, 1962. The tape is to go under the hammer on November 4th, 2015 from Adam Partridge Auctioneers in Liverpool. The contents of the tape is well known from needledrops of acetates featuring this version of the song, but sourced from a tape, the quality is bound to be better than previously heard incarnations of the recording.
Additionally from the same article a bootleg from the Misterclaudel label (‘The Beatles Live at the Star Club, Hamburg, 1962’) is supposedly the raw tapes from the Star Club, they are not. The raw tapes are being auctioned but this bootleg is not it.
Meanwhile, the Misterclaudel bootleg from these same concerts, said to be from the “raw tape” has proved to be no such thing.
Wogblog also reports on the the latest item up for sale at auction which is a setlist from the Beatles performance at the Majestic Ballroom, Birkenhead Cheshire.
The songs were (with lead vocals in brackets where stated)
1. Unknown
2. Shimmy Like Kate (John)

4. PS I Love You (Paul)
5. H (unknown)
6. Chains (George)
7. A Taste Of Honey (Paul)
9. Three Cool Cats (George)
10. Unknown
11. Anna (Go to Him) (John)
12. Hey, Good Lookin’ (George)
13. The Hippy Hippy Shake (Paul)
14. I’m Talking About You
15. Devil In Her Heart (George)
16. Some Other Guy (John)

If you have £150 then sure. Seems a good price for a piece of Beatles history.

I’d like to get to know that fan. She sounds a lot like me. Making that list sounds just like something I would do. Haha, yeah, I did do that at the Ringo concert and at Paul’s pre-show.

The original ‘Yellow Submarine ‘ drawing has been discovered and is going up for sale at the Animation Art Signature Auction in Dallas, Texas on April 9.
The first ever drawing of The Beatles’ famous Yellow Submarine which is dubbed the ‘holy grail of memorabilia’ is set to fetch more than £10,000 at auction.
The unique psychedelic cartoon, which is hand-painted, depicts the eponymous submarine from the 1968 film in which the Fab Four travel to Pepperland to save it from the Blue Meanies.
The rare celluloid painting, known as a cel, was used as a master version from which artists working on the film created all other images of the wacky vessel.

Nice if they could get the basic facts right tho.
The single Yellow Submarine , written by Paul McCartney and sung by Ringo Starr , had featured on the 1967 album Revolver and spent four weeks at the top of the UK charts.
