However much we may wish “Nemo” did not exist, and had not denied us of years of John Lennon ‘s future, unfortunately he did. While I would not want to own the letters, I would have no problem – if I had the money – in buying the letters and donating them to the type of library that hold documents like that. If we set out to destroy all “Nemo” says in vain attempt to try and justify cold-blooded murder, all we do is give weight to those who entertain conspiracy theories by allowing them to say his words have been destroyed. We cannot take him out of history. Things like the album are distasteful but documentation of the crime I think less so. And if the family of Officer Steve Spiro, the man who slapped on the cuffs, need to get something from the documentation they have to pay this man’s medical bills, I’d happily pay them twice the money if I had it and put the letters somewhere they could be studied by brains better than mine.

I have a hard time imagining any private collector wanting these, though I guess it’s not out of the question. It does strike me as kind of tasteless.

I do think they’d be a valuable addition, as coldly factual items, to a John Lennon museum. And if the arresting officer has medical bills to pay, I guess that’s a good enough reason to try to capitalize off the items.

I feel I should clarify a few things about this one…firstly, Funny Paper you are quite right about the Catcher in the Rye and the article has since been changed. But also Funny Paper, its not PFC Auctions that are selling the Double Fantasy , that is an entirely different company. PFC Auctions (our sister company) were just selling a John and Yoko signed album.

mja6758, you speak sense.

Hi all,

A signed copy of Beatles For Sale has appeared at RR Auction:

http://www.paulfrasercollectib…..13527.page

I personally really like the album, as it shows the Beatles reaching what I would describe as their ‘mature’ stage, pre-empting the likes of Revolver etc.

The copy at auction is a bit tatty, but it’ll be interesting to see how much it sells for. Will try and update with the results when they are available.

Beatle prices have definitely shot up over the last 20 years.

I bought Meet the Beatles signed by all four (with John adding “To Anne with love”) for less than half the current auction price of Beatles For Sale

These are good investments … as long as you’re not stuck with a fake.

^that’s the rub, though…there are MANY more fakes than authentic pieces, especially when autographed by all 4, because Neil and Mal used to sign so many things to send out because the boys had no time (or desire) to do so.

It’s Paul!

Paul’s front door (to his childhood home) has sold for £4,100:

http://www.paulfrasercollectib…..e?catid=26

At first I thought I didn’t really see the appeal of this, but have it installed in your house and you’ve got a nice little talking point everytime you pass through it (much to the dismay of your friends, I imagine!).

You could also install a special doorbell that plays the beginning of “Let ‘Em In”.

It looks a bit battered, I’d love to have that in my home though.

Hi all,

Just a quick one to let you know that Heritage Auctions are selling the lowest-numbered sleeve for the White Album :

http://www.paulfrasercollectib…..e?catid=26

Apparently there are around 25 of these with the A0000001 number, with none of them actually containing a record. Though you do get two EX7 graded copies of the album with the lot.

Also featuring is the Sgt Pepper ‘s album sleeve where the heads are replaced by those of Capitol Records execs

Cheers,

Joe

Hi,

A rare, unreleased interview conducted with John and Yoko towards the end of 1969 has been put up for sale at RR Auctions, revealing some of John’s feelings of tension as the band finally drew to a close:

http://www.paulfrasercollectib…..?catid=357

The reels show John’s typically frank response to what must have been difficult questions at the time, though it seems the band were resigned to a split by this point already.

A great piece of memorabilia, what a job to have been a rock writer back when rock was worth writing about!

What’s interesting about this is the auction house is about 45 minutes from my house, here in New Hampshire. Maybe I should go and try to “liberate” it

Go in there, guns blazing, and grab those two reels. Then post them here. We’re all behind you, Dr. Metaphorically.

Already locked and loaded!

In all seriousness, it’s cool that it’s so close to my house. As close as we are to Boston, I’m surprised something this cool is here in NH!

Hi all,

A collection of two tickets, a brochure and postcard from the Blackpool Big Night Out concert in 1965 has just sold at Omega Auctions for £2,500, making a huge increase on its £300 hight estimate:

http://www.paulfrasercollectib…..?catid=357

Also includes a round-up of the sale, which included Elvis and Led Zeppelin items.

Cheers,

Joe
