Good Dog Nigel. Arf, Arf, he goes, a merry sight. Our little hairy friend. Arf, Arf, upon the lampost bright, arfing around the bend. Nice dog! Goo boy, waggie tail and beg. Clever Nigel, jump for joy
Because we're putting you to sleep at three of the clock, Nigel.

Plus new Macca album (if it doesn’t arrive before Christmas) and at least three further McCartney archive releases. Possible Olympics appearance (at the opening ceremony, not as an athlete)?
Can buy me love! Please consider supporting the Beatles Bible on Amazon

I've never lost my sense of Beatlemania but will admit that is has been at an all time high over the past 3 years. My wife bought the Anthology DVD's for me at Christmas 2008 (so, I blame her!). The following year I obtained the The Beatles Stereo Box Set, I found this fabulous website the following Spring… It's all too much!
Now, with the excited anticipation of a teenager, I look forward to each McCartney archive release as if it were a brand new album. I'm asking for Beatles books, videos and memorabilia as if I were sitting on Santa's lap (OK – Mrs. Santa) and am counting the months, weeks and days until the new George-umentary comes out in the U.S. next Spring. Have I mentioned Lewisohn's Holy Grail of all Beatles books yet?
Man, it is awesome to be a Beatles fan!
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

Just thought I’d x-post this so it doesn’t get lost in the news thread – The Guardian posted an article on Beatlemania and its antecedents. Great read.

I can’t wait to see the celebrations. Freda Kelly said at the screening I attended that she’ll be at the NYC Fest for Beatles Fans that weekend.

I assume this has meaning for US fans as something to do with Ed? Lost me otherwise.
As some of u know I am on a personal Beatlemania kick just now, 50+ discs in a nice pile waiting to be viewed / listened to.
Truth in advertising – they are actually arranged neatly on shelves and not in a pile, but you get the idea

^^ Yes, it’s the date of the first Ed Sullivan appearance aka The Night America Lost It’s Collective Sh!t.
On a related note, The Fab Four FAQ 2.0 mentioned that today Robert Zemeckis’ “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” was released this day in the UK. I still need to see that.

Cheers. I have the 2xDVD set of their 4 Sullivan appearances, complete with ads. It’s kind of funny to have the Beatles “coming up shortly (but first, here’s a word from our tea and flour company sponsors)”. Watching them trying to sell Lipton tea into the US market is particularly amusing.

The Ed dvds are great for the Beatles shows but also as a time capture of what one of the biggest shows in the US was and therefore what the US audience were getting. The adverts for Lipton, Pilsbury dough (or whatever it was, cookie dough?) it was and anadin are fascinating. And most of the other acts suck. Morecombe and Wise were huge over hear but the sketch contained on the dvds is so lame.

Erm – Anacin? The words are burnt into my brain after so many repetitions
Agree re how bad many of the acts were; though the folks on the high poles were amazing AND scary, one of the magicians was also pretty good. It was also interesting to see Davy Jones (soon to be of the Monkees) as the Artful Dodger in the Oliver segment on one.
