Anyways, now that we’re back on track…here’s a nice Beatles documentary parody with a twist. From the “Mr. Show, with Bob and David” sketch comedy show, the Monty Python’s Flying Circus of the ’90s. (The first 40 seconds or so aren’t relevant, but were kinda necessary due to the stream-of-consciousness nature of the program.)
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

I love Mr. Show, thank you. “Imminent Death Syndrome” from the pilot is a running joke with my friends.

Great!
Full circle in a sense if you accept the premise that Monty Python were influenced by Magical Mystery Tour .

I can’t find the picture on the Internet, but that one of Ringo playing the bongos with a funny face (I have the A Hard Day’s Night CD, and the pic is in the liner notes booklet) always makes me laugh. Anyone know what I’m talking about?

It was put together by a fan and given he didn’t the amount of choices that George and Giles Martin had with Love, I think it’s a remarkable job. Of course, just for those who don’t know The Rutles too well, the songs “Fool on the Pill” and “Denny Laine” do not exist. They are just titles that appear on the cover of the US compilation Tragical History Tour, along with such greats as “W.C. Fields Forever” and “I Am The Waitress”. “Ouch!” of course does exist, the title track from The Rutles second film (made in colour!).
Just imagine, in a parallel universe, there are people typing on the Pre-Fab Forum of The Rutles Rubicon, saying what a great pastiche of Ron, Dirk, Stig and Barry The Beatles are!

Came across this Onion infographic from October. A couple of the “history” items made me giggle, notably:
Mar. 11, 1967: Paul McCartney ’s absentminded humming of the Bonanza theme song shoots straight to the top of the Billboard Hot 100
Aug. 8, 1969: After several dozen attempts, the photographer finally gets a shot of the Beatles crossing Abbey Road without Ringo looking directly into the camera
