As many of you know, a hologram of the late Tupac Shakur performed at this years coachella festival. And Paul was there! If you havent seen it check it out. Amazing really. Anyway… Given this I put forth the following:
1. Should Paul and Ringo join holograms of John and George for Get Back at, say, the olympics?
2. Could they? What would Yoko say? Olivia?
3. Would they do it? Would Paul consider it? Would Ringo?
I’ll chime in with my thoughts a bit later. So what say you!

Sounds unappealing to me, but I hate this kind of virtual-revival-of-the-dead though technology thing in general. Like back in the ’90s, when Paula Abdul used to team up with “Groucho Marx” and “James Cagney” to sell Coca-Cola.
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

The last thing i want to see is Paul and Ringo playing anything alongside holograms of George and John, sounds such a crass way to get some beatle thing going. Hopefully if any such idea was raised to Olivia or Yoko they would refuse immediately and Paul and Ringo would do the same.
Dont really see why any of the beatles have to be there anyway and if they do want to represent them then get some artist/band to cover their music with appropriate footage in the background.

Rolling Stone said something about this issue.I can’t find the article but they said that, even though John was voted by the readers as one of the top 10 rock stars they want to see as holograms, he was so human that it would be impossible to do an accurate portrait.

[as an aside, nothing to do with the Olympics] If they could turn the Shea Stadium concert into 3D I’d certainly give it a go.

I hope to God it doesn’t occur and that Paul, Ringo, Olivia and Yoko see sense and veto the idea completely- you can’t recapture the magic with two living breathing persons and two holograms. I’d find the experience deeply discomforting and somehow morally wrong.

So… My turn! I was hoping for this type of response. It would truly make me ill. Should they? I think I’ve already made it clear that’s a no!!! Could they? Hmmmmmm… I guess they could use footage from the roof from Get Back . I just don’t think there is enough to create a proper hologram. And while for some reason I think Yoko might actually say yes (as Mithvaean mentioned people seem to really want to see John like this and it would be incredibly emotional) Olivia would eventually say no… Meaning she’d laugh her butt off for an hour first. Would they? No. Neither Paul nor Ringo would ever dishonor their fallen brothers like this.
Oh…. Hey “Into the sky”. Shea in 3-D? That would be mind blowing at a theater. Cool idea.

Thought that was more a flogging of ‘Queen’ at the expense of decency but then i am not happy with where Queen has been taken since Freddie died and John Deacon retired. All this Queen + whoever crappy duets seems to be dragging it over and through the dirt. I know John Deacon has given his blessing but cant see him putting up too much hindrence anyway.
Thankfully we never got Paul and Ringo or Ringo and George or whatever 2some using the Beatles name for new projects: ‘The Beatles + X Sing The Beatles Greatest Hits Live 2003’.

I agree with you 100%… Not even sure what they are doing. It’s not a hologram but it’s something Brian May says will make people say “did we just see Freddy”. Answer is no. No you did not see Feddy.

I read a report on it and May said it was a shame that the hologram thing had been done already (with Tupak?) as they had been trying to get it right for a while. However its now some kind of light perception giving thing. I dont understand why you would want to see Freddy anyway when its going to be Freddy pre-91 (unless they have aged him)? Just look at a dvd or photo and save the £40 or whatever it is you will be charged for the experience.
However you wouldnt catch me anywhere near a beatles tribute act so im not the person who would get it in the first place.

Personally, I would love it! I do think it’s a bit wrong, but It wouldn’t change anything really. I just think that it would be very sweet, and a good way to pay respects to John and George. And it would mean a lot to me, it would make me feel really fuzzy. It would be sooo sweet.
Sorry I haven’t been here for awhile. School
I am very happy, and one reason is because I have The Beatles. Thank you!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3

So I posted another topic on whether or not Paul and Ringo should play with their fallen brothers at the Olympics using holograms and yadda, yadda, yadda most of you hated the idea. Me too by the way. Next question.
Should Paul play a tune, say Yesterday , with hologram Paul on tour? Maybe using the Sullivan footage? I am FOR this one. I think that would be very cool. A visual testament to the song’s timelessness. What say you?

I would be irritated at seeing a hologram of Paul playing alongside himself if i saw him life again. Seems like a pointless gimmick, and the last thing Paul needs at a concert is a gimmick.
Would rather he put together a completely new setlist which included more of the seemingly forgotten tracks from the 80’s and 90’s.

Beatles Examiner article on radio host Mark Silverman’s idea to have a Beatles reunion at Candlestick Park featuring John and George holograms.
Personally, I find the whole hologram thing horrifically tacky, and if I were a celebrity, I’d stipulate in my will that my estate ensures that such a thing never happens to my likeness.
But given the excitement over the Tupac and Michael Jackson holograms, I feel like I’m in the minority. What do you think?
