With Paul McCartney ‘s birthday coming up, I have been thinking about all the other important dates on a Beatlemaniac’s calendar. I usually have some sort of celebration on the their four birthdays and the anniversary of the Ed Sullivan. If I have left over fireworks from the Fourth of July, I let them off on the 6th (day Paul met John)
I have been thinking about doing more this year though. Does anyone have any important dates in Beatles history that they celebrate?

Not usually. I might play a record on a release date if its of some special significance but that’s about it. I did used to compose George and John playlists on their respective birthdays but not any more as it began to feel forced.

On June 1st, 1967, I want to do a Sgt. Pepper concert of the album (a 50 year anniversary thing) considering that it comes once every 50 years!
By hook or by crook, I'll be last in this book.

Youre a bit late, 1967 has come and gone.

I celebrate their respective birthdays by playing The Birthday Boy’s solo stuff while drinking from a glass with his picture on it. These are the pint glasses I have.
The first song is played while I get out the compass, point myself toward Liverpool and drink a toast to the Fab du jour.
The blue glass above is already out and ready for service tomorrow!!

I used to do that (well, not the glass thing, even though I do own Beatles glasses), but it’s been a while since I last did it.

On the last Ed Sullivan show anniversary, I found these Chinese lanterns in the basement. They are like these miniature paper hot air balloons, and you light them and they more or less fly away. I light about 4 of them, but I think at events like weddings everyone is supposed to set off as many of them as they can.
