I guess so. No history of any other artist has fascinated me as much as The Beatles whom I already had been fascinated by through most of my life without really knowing why.
That. Exactly that. They may not always be my favourite band but their story is certainly the most rewarding.

Such stats can be misleading. I will always have a special place in my heart for the Beatles, even though I’ve been listening mostly to David Bowie as of late.

Yeah, it depends on your listening/loving habits. Some people only like stuff when they’re actively listening to it, but I have a sentimental journey loyalty to artists.

I used to be there, too. My obsessions ebb and flow, though, but I will always love the lads from Liverpool.

ZZ Top was great in the 70’s and bad in the 80’s. If you compare songs like Just Got Paid, La Grange, and Tush to Sharp Dressed Man, Legs, and Gimme All Your Loving, the first 3 are like SRV but heavier whereas the latter are just generic 80’s pop music (albeit with some okay guitar).
I wish they never grew out their beards. Not just did it destroy the quality of their music, but they also look much better without those Duck Dynasty beards:
If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

Although they continued to play kickass live shows through the 80s 90s and 2000s. I’ve never seen them before I’m sure they still rip.

Coltrane, John
Davis, Miles
Earth, Wind & Fire
Funkadelic
Groundhogs
Hendrix, Jimi
Isley Brothers
Jefferson Airplane
King Crimson
Led Zeppelin
MX-80 Sound
Nomeansno
Ono, Yoko

Queen
Rush
Summer, Donna
Taylor, Cecil
Uriah Heep
Velvet Underground
Wonder, Stevie

If I redid this today, a dozen years later…nothing much would change, aside from probably Motörhead in place of MX-80, and maybe Grateful Dead replacing Groundhogs.

Honestly Pink Floyd is probably still my favorite band and David Bowie my favorite solo artist, as evinced by my top most scrobbled artists on Last.fm:
However, part of the reason Bowie is so high is because he has a LOT of music, and relatively short songs when compared with Floyd, and the two of them are also particularly high because I listened to them a lot while sitting at my computer doing homework. For example, Led Zeppelin, at #6, would be higher if they weren’t terrible for focusing
Also, Muse is currently at #3 and threatening to overtake Floyd (again, shorter songs = easier to get more scrobbles while listening to the same amount of raw music). The Beatles are at #4, but this is only from the past couple years; if I’d been keeping records from my teen years, I’d have an untouchably large number of Beatles scrobbles
So in conclusion: stats are misleading, but reflect a certain truth in this instance. And I owe a lot to the Beatles. Even though I don’t listen to them as much as I once did, they are the reason I discovered so many other artists and they opened my mind to so much other good music – and you lot, of course they may not be my current favorite band, but they were my first favorite band, and That Means A Lot .
