This is a difficult one. On the one hand, I believe The Beatles are the greatest band ever to exist, and I go back to and take more interest in their music than any other. On the other hand, I don’t emotionally connect with their music nearly as much as I do with that of The Smiths, one of my other favourites.
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

The tie would be between The Beatles and David Bowie for me, but since David Bowie can’t be called a band I can confidently claim The Beatles to be my favourite band.
Mine has changed so much! Now it is:
1.The Beatles
2. Led Zeppelin
3. Radiohead
4. David Bowie
Then there come Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Genesis, The Beach Boys , Eagles and various others.

What’s your favourite Muse album @Beatlebug? I used to be a massive Muse fanboy at one point.I’d have to say Absolution personally
Oh really?
I’d have to say Black Holes And Revelations, but Absolution is a very close second.

Indeed I did. I tend to favour things I’ve known longer — loyalty/sentimental thing, but I also sincerely enjoy them more when they’ve been a part of my life longer.

1. The Beatles – by a million miles. Always Great. My favourite thing full stop. Though they didn’t make my favourite album.
2. The Beach Boys – Pet Sounds is my favourite album, lots of classics, but a few early albums with too much filler.
3. David Bowie – Put his best songs against anyone else’s and he’s up there with the best but cannot say i think he’s done many classic albums.
4. Led Zeppelin – The best riff band ever
5. Queen – Widely known as a great singles band which they were, but for me they’ve got one or two classic albums to go with it.
After that it’s hard to put them in order – in terms of modern music I love Arcade Fire and Interpol. Real Estate, Beach House, Sufjan Stevens. Phoenix. Tame Impala.
Other artists I would put up there would be –
joy division – phenomenal but only 2 albums sadly.
Radiohead – ok computer is probably in my top 3 ever. The Bends is amazing but I’m not that fond of many of their albums since then.
Oasis – it’s an English thing I suppose. Love their first two albums
The Smiths – loads of classics songs.
The Pixies – Incredible band though some filler. Seen these live last year.
Teenage Fanclub – massively underrated.
Bruce Springsteen, U2, Elliott Smith, Billy Joel. The Kinks, The Stones, The Byrds etc. etc.

@fabsies David bowie hasn’t done many classic albums? What are Ziggy Stardust, Alladin Sane, Hunky Dory, Low, Heroes and Blackstar then, EPs?

^^What’s wrong with having Taylor Swift in one’s top three? If someone had taken Harry Potter in their top three bands I’d call that random but Taylor Swift… she’s a musician after all.
I feel like I have to modify my list once again:
1.The Beatles
2.Pink Floyd (I’ve only arrived at Meddle in my Pink Floyd marathon yet and they already entered my top three, what an achievement)
3.Led Zeppelin
4.Radiohead
5.David Bowie
As much as I love the other bands, I’m pretty sure The Beatles will always remain my absolute favourite band.

In all seriousness The Beatles are my favourite band and they have been for over twenty years and at this stage it would have to take something really drastic for that to change.
What separates The Beatles from other bands is not only the music but the story of the band, the legacy, who and what influenced the members, the impact they made on pop culture, the list goes on.
On the topic of Bowie. He has plenty of classic albums and I do believe that Blackstar will be considered a classic album in the years to come.

Taylor swift under top 3 bands? Slightly random.
I mean it probably should have said “artists” instead of “bands”, but it’s not random at all. Taylor Swift is very talented. She is also the only artist where I can genuinely say that I like all of her songs.
