It’s hard to call the Beatles a favourite band, they’re more like the template for bands.
I didn’t explain this very well did I. There have been bands since forever, but the Beatles were a new kind of band, one that didn’t have an explicit leader (Johnny and the Moondogs excepted), one that wrote its own songs, one that had its own look, one that had its own style. I listen to too much different music to play favourites, but there isn’t a day that I don’t think of a Beatles song, they’re too good. They are also some of my favourite individual artists, and that’s unusual as well.

My answer may change by a smidge sometimes, but I think it’s safe to say that the lads are tied at favourite with Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.

Interesting question, the answer is yes of course, I mean the only real competition would be the rockers, the champions, the mother tier uppers themselves Queen but they’d suck without The Beatles influence and plus, what other band gets you really interested in learning what instrument model was used on a specific song.

Yes the Beatles are “Number One, Number One” followed by Wings, Klaatu, and The Rutles in that order.

As they are the only band that I buy all albums for, rather than ‘The very best of..’ or ‘ Greatest Hits’ I guess the answer is a resounding ‘Yes,’ they are my favourite band. Also, and this is a bit strange, even for me, theirs are the only records that can transport me back in time to my youth and childhood. The 60s was/is my favourite decade for music and I also love bands such as The Kinks, Beachboys, Moody Blues, Who, Small Faces… well the list goes on.

I’ve got a mighty triumverate of Beatles, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones up there. But there are many bands I love / rather like a lot. The Fabs are preeeeety far up there, though!

One of my band-mates referred to my threesome — the Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Muse– as my ‘Holy Trinity of bands’. But really the Beatles and Pink Floyd are the important ones. Muse I am very keen on, but they’re only my second favourite*.
*Because the Fabs and the Floyd are tied at number one, number one.

The tie would be between The Beatles and David Bowie for me, but since David Bowie can’t be called a band I can confidently claim The Beatles to be my favourite band.

You mean that MUSE are your 3rd favorite because if they are your second favorite, that means they’re better than either The Beatles or Pink Floyd and I know that as much as you love Knights Of Cydonia, you don’t prefer it over Dark Side Of The Moon or Abbey Road , here’s how it would look like in a list (making random guesses for a top 10):
1. The Beatles (tie)
1. Pink Floyd (tie)
3. Muse
5. David Bowie
6. Queen
7. Led Zeppelin
8. Paul McCartney (tie)
8. John Lennon (tie)
10. The Rutles

Statistically, the Beatles are my favourite band. (By how many records/other junk I have by them.) But I truly don’t listen to them often enough for them to be #1. (Not that I don’t like the Beatles! )
As for other favourites, I don’t really have any other favourite bands (I have bands that I like, though.)
I consume music in record/album form, so it’d be an easier task for me to name off my favourite albums than my favourite bands/artists.

I mean what I said, which was: the Beatles and Pink Floyd are tied at number one, so they are both my first favourite, making Muse my second. I know that isn’t correct, that’s just how I have it sorted.
and I know that as much as you love Knights Of Cydonia, you don’t prefer it over Dark Side Of The Moon or Abbey Road {LIST }
Yes, I love Knights of Cydonîa, but it’s a song, not an album! You can’t compare it with DSOTM or AR!
That having been said, I don’t love any of Muse’s albums near as much as I love Fabs and Floyds albums. I like much of their overall work, and as a band I think they’re great. They don’t resonate in my soul the same way the Floyd do, and I don’t know every single song and album like an intimate friend as I do with the Beatles.

Technically the list would look like this:
(T)1.Beatles
(T)1. Pink Floyd
3. Muse.
Dark Overlord is correct on this issue because Muse is in third place, as Silly Girl has no second favorite Band. Its a shame, because I love having a second favorite.
Heres a list from me
1. Beatles
2. Bob Dylan
2. The Beach Boys
4. Pink Floyd

Although I prefer not to pick favorites, The Beatles are my favorite band of all time and I hate it when someone doesn’t like their music, here’s a top 3 list for me:
1. The Beatles
Genre: Classic Rock, Pop Rock, British Invasion, Merseybeat, Folk Rock, Electric Folk, Psychedelic Rock, Children’s Rock, Blues Rock, Experimental Rock
Best known for: Too many songs to list, including such timeless classics as She Loves You , I Want To Hold Your Hand , Day Tripper , Yellow Submarine , Hello Goodbye , Hey Jude , Come Together , Let It Be , and many, many more
Best albums: Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles, Abbey Road
Typical Lineup: (since this is one of those bands that changes their lead singer from song to song, I will not be mentioning vocals)
John Lennon : Rhythm Guitar (1956-1969)
Paul McCartney : Bass Guitar (1961-1970), Lead Guitar (1957-1961, occasionally from 1965-1969)
George Harrison : Lead Guitar (1957-1970)
Ringo Starr : Drums (1962-1970)
2. Queen
Genre: Hard Rock, Glam Rock, Progressive Rock, Classic Rock, Pop Rock
Best known for: We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions, Bohemian Rhapsody, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Another One Bites The Dust, Killer Queen
Best albums: A Night At The Opera, News Of The World, Live Killers
Typical Lineup:
Freddie Mercury: Lead Vocals, Piano (1970-1991)
Brian May: Lead and Rhythm Guitar, Backing Vocals (1970-_)
John Deacon: Bass Guitar (1971-1997)
Roger Taylor: Drums, Percussion, Backing Vocals (1970-_)
Can’t think of another band that I like, so will put an album for this one
3. The Dark Side Of The Moon
Genre: Progressive Rock
Best known for: Breathe, Time, Money, Brain Damage, and Eclipse
Typical Lineup:
David Gilmour: Lead Vocals, Lead and Rhythm Guitar
Roger Waters: Bass Guitar
