I don’t. I find some of their songs listenable individually but i cant take multiple doses nor do i have any inclination to obtain any of their albums whatsoever.

Agree with @meanmistermustard. The Monkees made some good music, but the fact that they were the first “manufactured group” upsets me. It paved the other way for manufactured stars like the Spice Girls. Plus, they were making their music in the wrong period. They should have started in the British Invasion period, but instead they hit the mainstream in the psychedelic era, in the days of Sgt. Pepper and Hendrix and Cream. Actually, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, as a lot of you may know, was the supporting act for the Monkees’ tour. They were dropped after 8 gigs because his act was too “inappropriate” for the Teenybopper audience. Plus, they weren’t even allowed to play their own instruments at first. I bet you the guys didn’t even know each other really well before the auditions took place. Meanwhile, the Beatles were all best friends!!! They all knew each other very well personally!!! You can’t get this with the Monkees!!!!
By hook or by crook, I'll be last in this book.

Since the Beatles became my favourite band, which was when they first appeared on the scene, they have remained as my favourite band.
I have enjoyed Cream, Led Zeppelin, the Eagles, Eva Cassidy, Tommy Emmanuel and many more over the years but even when I went long spells without listening to them, they were still my favourites because their music was inspiring and it put me on the right path, and right now, once again, I’m listening to The Beatles more than anyone else. Their music has stood the test of time.
Incidentally, one of the names above – Tommy Emmanuel – I urge you to listen to him. He is genuinely one of the best guitar players in the world and he is a Beatles fan.
Watch and listen to this (especially you guitarists out there):

Thanks a lot for posting @Hildy!!! I enjoy listening to Tommy Emmanuel a lot!! He is a VERY proficient guitar player and there is very few like him. I had the pleasure of meeting him at a meet-and-greet before one of his shows. He signed a Stratocaster pickguard for me, which I still have. He was very nice and shows a lot of interest in real music. Particularly, when I watched him perform, I heard him tell a story about he once got a Chet Atkins record, converted it to a cassette, and took the cassette with him when he went to Thailand once. He said that in Thailand, it was HOT down there, and the air conditioner in his hotel was very old. So it would either be roasting or freezing, never just right. So, whenever he wanted to learn that song, he would set his alarm to wake him up at 5:00 in the morning and practice around that time beside the pool because that was the only time that the weather was cool. And when he introduced the Beatles medley, he said, “All right, I’m gonna play some Beatles tunes; if you know them, sing along, and if you don’t know them, then I don’t know what planet you’re from!!!” I like him, and he is an expert player, just like Chet Atkins. A true favorite.

He was friendly with Chet Atkins, indeed it was Chet who give him the accolade – CGP – Certified Guitar Player. That’s how he signs his autograph – Tommy Emmanuel CGP.
Here he is again with another masterful guitar player, Frank Vignola, and they are performing two numbers, the first of which is a Beatle tune – Here, There And Everywhere .

If you put the name ‘Tommy Emmanuel’ into YouTube, there’s a feast of videos of him playing guitar.
He truly is a one-man band with the instrument, and his brother Phil is pretty good, too.
Tommy Emmanuel also features in a TED video. You’ll never tire of watching and listening to him.

I’ve actually arranged this into 7 tiers of 4 artists. It’s ridiculous. To not overload you guys, I’ll just put tiers 1 and 2:
TIER 1
The Beatles
Radiohead
Rush
Green Day
TIER 2
The Protomen
Pink Floyd
Arctic Monkeys
Imagine Dragons
(This signature brought to you by Net Boy and Net Girl. Putting messages in modems since 1996.)

I like the Monkees too, although I’m not really a fan of Davy Jones’ singing on a lot of songs (ex. Daydream Believer). The ones Micky Dolenz did are my favorite.
i actually do like the Monkees. it was a joke but then i relized that the faces in their made it looklike ididn’t likethem. I probably should have said The Rutles so that the joke could be clearer.
I Think that Rolling Stone should do a cover story of The Rolling Stones covering "Like a Rolling Stone" or if a Type of Beetle was named after The Beatles.

It’s hard to call the Beatles a favourite band, they’re more like the template for bands.

He is awesome, thanks for that. Guitar/banjo players – I’m still a guitar player wannabe, but did I hear some banjo style picking used throughout this (i.e. the run at the end)?
