B*witched were, for a brief period of time, quite popular in the UK amassing 2 or 3 more top ten hits after ‘C’est La Vie’. Here for your listening pleasure is their second single (i think) ‘Rollercoaster’.
Actually looking at their wiki entry their first four songs all made #1. Ireland has a lot to apologise over.

I think Scotland gave up on boybands with The Bay City Rollers back in the 70’s. We learnt our mistake then. Oh, wait we gave you the Proclaimers and the McDonald Brothers. I am very sorry about that.*
*There are probably many more out there that we have unleashed on a poor unsuspecting undeserving world but i cant think of them – which is probably a good thing.

Bay City Rollers! I got their “greatest hits” LP for a Xmas gift in ’75 or ’76 (didn’t ask for it)
The Beatles were my favourite/most-listened-to band for so many years that I rarely have the need to listen to them these days, when there’s so much more stuff out there. But I still throw on an album of theirs occasionally, just to reassure myself that the magic’s still there for me.
@Linde, the concept of “guilty pleasures” doesn’t exist for me – I like what I like, and believe that everything I like is therefore great! (Even if it’s only one song or two by some otherwise worthless performer.) If you like a couple of Westlife songs, do like me and be proud of it! And say to yourself “I love the Beatles too, so I must know what’s great!”
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

No, I they’re not my favourite band, I prefer the Quarrymen…
Of course The Beatles are my favourite band! If I wasn’t so obsessed with them, I probably wouldn’t be on this forum.
But after about half a year of only listening to The Beatles, I am finally starting to get into some other bands like Led Zeppelin, The Beach boys, etc. But The Beatles will always be my number 1.

Musically….the songs, arrangements……..vocals. The Beatles
Tracking a groups evolution and musical progression. The Beatles
Emotionally……nostalgically….. in the sense that much of my formative and later life has been wrapped in a single group’s music. The Beatles.
So I guess I’m saying the Beatles,The Beatles…. The Beatles. However, despite their number one and enduring status in my heart, I also recognise that very little of their music comes over to me as heartfelt.
Are you sure, Atlas? Not even such heartfelt songs like Strawberry Fields Forever , Yer Blues , Happiness Is A Warm Gun , or Julia ? I can feel John’s sadness, pain and love in them, I can feel them in my guts.

Yes, The Beatles are my favorite band. Then, not necessarily in that order, other bands/artists: The Doors, Dire Straits, Sting (with The Police and after), Velvet Underground, Simon & Garfunkel, Suzanne Vega, Pink Floyd… But The Beatles are the people that saved me from going insane or suicidal in my teens, they are the musicians that still make me feel sixteen years old thirty years later. I can’t conceive myself without The Beatles; listening to them, laughing and crying with their songs is part of my identity.

So I’ve actually organized this into 6 4 band tiers. The Beatles, are, in fact, my favorite band, though I love a lot of others. Just as a sample, here’s the first two tiers:
TIER 1
The Beatles, Radiohead, Rush, Green Day
TIER 2
The Protomen, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Wilco

Ah, very good choices. I didn’t know there was someone on BB who shared a similar taste in music to me (aside from the Beatles, obviously). It took me a while to get into Cocteau Twins. I remember the first album I listened to, I thought there was something wrong with my iPod as I couldn’t understand what was being sung… that’s when I realised Elizabeth Fraser has a very unique way of singing.
The Beatles my favourite band? Hmm… they certainly used to be, but I’m not so sure anymore. I spend most of my time listening to obscure (and some not so obscure) post-punk/darkwave bands nowadays. I’m sure I’ll come back to the Beatles one day, though.
Moving along in our God given ways, safety is sat by the fire/Sanctuary from these feverish smiles, left with a mark on the door.
