My CD rack has everything from Mozart to Metallica but The Beatles are far and away my favorites.

“It’s interesting how many people who like Beatles music like the same other bands. “
Yeah, I noted many moons ago (I was hoping it was in this thread somewhere, but alas…) how Beatles fans seem to tend — the operative word is tend — to be more rock and “cool” oriented in their general musical tastes. I.e., (what I’m saying I feel is that) if one took a scientific survey of Beatles fans, one would find lower incidence of, say, Gordon Lightfoot fans, or Chicago fans, or country music fans, or Dave Brubeck fans, than in the population at large; and a higher incidence of Bowie, Dylan, Pink Floyd (+ any number of new bands and artists the kiddies love).

My thoughts exactly. I’ve got a post from 2010 on this page, and, even though my choices haven’t really changed much, I wouldn’t be so gutsy as to come up with a top-ten list these days.
EDIT: I do wish that I had fit The Beach Boys in somewhere on my old list, though.
I'm Necko. I'm like Ringo except I wear necklaces.
I'm also ewe2 on weekends.

I realised a good while back that the Beatles music is part of my inner core, no matter how long i leave listening to it it never goes, always coming back to the surface when i find myself thinking of their songs and before long i have to play something to quench the desire. I love and listen to more artists than ever before but The Beatles are still miles ahead of them (and that includes their solo work). It would be foolish to conclude otherwise.

I saw your post while searching for mine @Necko ! Nice list. There were a few I left off mine as well. Mostly old blues artists – don’t get me started.
@Sugarplum fairy and @Funny Paper are correct in that a lot of us share common likes.

Musically….the songs, arrangements……..vocals. The Beatles
Tracking a groups evolution and musical progression. The Beatles
Emotionally……nostalgically….. in the sense that much of my formative and later life has been wrapped in a single group’s music. The Beatles.
So I guess I’m saying the Beatles,The Beatles…. The Beatles.
However, despite their number one and enduring status in my heart, I also recognise that very little of their music comes over to me as heartfelt.

And my response to the original question is what I would like carved on my tombstone as a last testament to my life in general:
“I’m not sure… maybe… but then…”
(Another tombstone idea I’d like to have is “Yes, But…”)
Anyway, what I mean is that in some ways the Beatles do occupy a unique place in my heart musically; but in other ways I may never be able to quite exorcize the initial magic Santana bewitched me with when their first four albums came out in a span of two years.

The first time I heard Santana, I was at an outdoor party. Someone down the street was blaring this incredibly soulful and rhythmic music featuring amazing lead guitar work. I turned to my cousin and said “who is THAT?!?!” Bewitched is a perfect term, FP. I get it.
