The Beatles are my ultimate favorite band, no doubt about it. I wouldn't hesitate to say so when asked.
Now, there are some other bands/artists I like. I love all the music from the 50s – the 70s and some of my faves include:
Buddy Holly/Crickets, Elvis, Ritchie Valens, Eddie Cochran, CCR, Frankie Valli/Four Seasons. Then so much more oldies bands that I love— I practically live in the past.
Umm then my second fave band is Queen and I also like Guns N' Roses and other 80s bands/artists. And since I did grow up in the 90s, I do have a soft spot for boy bands like the Backstreet Boys . (So I like them, sue me!) And I do say that I hate modern music because most of it is crap but I do make exceptions for a few songs here and there.
Ok so basically that was my real long way of saying that I like all different bands and artists but the Beatles are my number one.

Are the Beatles my favourite band? Most of the time, yeah – definitely my favourite '60s band, (and usually my favourite English band, except for every couple of years when I remember how much I loved Led Zeppelin as a teen!) And you've got to give them credit for INVENTING the whole template/inventing the self-contained writing/singing/playing/recording band concept while simultaneously stretching it to its limits.
Aside from them, their only real competition in my heart is Parliament/Funkadelic (and they had to rely on like 30 bandmembers!) Or occasionally I'll proclaim (the fairly obscure) MX-80 Sound my favourites when I feel like being a pretentious obscurantist. But nobody else.

Also, I like some 80's bands. While The Who and The Beatles are tied for 1st place, Van Halen and Genesis are tied for 2nd.
Thanks for reminding me those 2 MrBig. I love Genesis in both Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins eras. Actually I haven't heard much of Peter Gabriel's solo work in movies, but what I've heard I'm in love with it, like that awesome track for the final credits in Strange Days, While the Earth Sleeps.
Mhhh Strange Days. Now I remember Skunk Anansie. That Selling Jesus blew my mind away when I heard it.

Allright, here's a top ten:
1. The Beatles
2. Led Zeppelin
3. Parliament/Funkadelic
4. MX-80 Sound
5. The Jimi Hendrix Experience / Band of Gypsys / etc.
6. The Velvet Underground
7. The John Coltrane Quartet / Quintet / etc.
8. Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
9. minutemen
10. Creedence Clearwater Revival
After those, there's a lotta bands that had 5 or 7 years of brilliance counterweighed, unfortunately, by wayyy too many years of mediocrity.

Oh yeah. I listen to loads of old soul stuff. Otis Redding, Ray Charles, Arthur Alexander. They don't make 'em like that nowadays.

Nice! Thanks for the reminder, I haven't listened to Otis Redding in too long. (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay was always one of my favorite songs growing up. And you're right, I've been waiting for my generation to produce a Ray Charles or Al Green or Stevie Wonder or James Brown, but it just doesn't seem likely. We just need a little funky soul!

The Beatles are by far my favorite band. I have actually only listened to them as a majority of my music listening for a little less than a year now, but they have impacted my musical tastes, and even my life more than any other band has by a long shot.
I primarily only listen to the Beatles now.
During less frequent occaisions, I really like 90s music like Nirvana, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden. Also love the classics like Zep, The Who, or Boston.
