Dunno if this is already a thread (move this if it is), but I think some alternative versions of the Beatles songs are better than their main version. The best example is probably the live performances of Yesterday during ’66.
Mod edit: Older threads on this topic.
Rare recordings/obscure songs/alternate versions of well known songs, etc.
Alternate takes / demos
Looking for funny/interesting alternate takes…
Anthology versions you prefer over the original
I finally finished Sgt. Pepper 2! Watch it here. (Sorry if this is annoying advertizing...)

@Knight There is a similar, but not quite duplicate, thread called ‘Anthology songs that should have been on original albums‘.

@Joe, @Zig, @meanmistermustard, and I are contemplating our options with the various alternative takes threads. Give us a bit of time to decide.

I don’t know about better than the original, but I always liked this early mix of Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band without the brass and with an extended fade-out.

“I Call Your Name “ is underwhelming and is never going to crack the top 100 Beatle songs in anyone’s poll- but the sultry Mama Cass puts a whole new spin on it.
And though I love George Martin’s instrumental break, I think “In My Life “ is better by Judy Collins. (Blasphemy!)
The Beatles’ version is a bit too fast for me, and it’s the rare instance where I’d have preferred no harmonies

Again, I don’t know about better than the original, but I always liked this demo version of George’s song Isn’t It A Pity from the Get Back sessions.

I like it too! But then, I’m a total sucker for acoustic demos.
There’s also this version.

Although most recognized from the Let It Be LP, but as we know, it was first recorded in ’68 for the “Our World” Wildlife Fund record. The Let It Be version is actually the alternate version since Phil Spector added all the extra sounds to it much later than the ’68 version.
I can’t decide which is better, as I like both versions, but love the bird sounds a the beginning of the ’68 version.

@Bongo Yeah, I like the Phil version better, but I do think the intro and outro are great!

Recently listened to a version of The Fool On The Hill from the Anthology series. I think it’s interesting in a similar vein to the ’66 concert versions of Yesterday , with a bit of a more band vibe, but in this case, I prefer the original. The alternative take has some interesting lyric changes, though. My favorite is: “He’s no fool.”

@Knight: could you post a link to that alternative version? Is it on You Tube? Thanks, Oudis.
“Forsan et haec olim meminisse juvabit” (“Perhaps one day it will be a pleasure to look back on even this”; Virgil, The Aeneid, Book 1, line 203, where Aeneas says this to his men after the shipwreck that put them on the shores of Africa)

I’ve been listening to the original Get Back album proposals, and the alternative version of Don’t Let Me Down that starts with Save The Last Dance For Me is pretty impressive. It took me by surprise and sounds pretty good.
