Certainly there is an abyss of alternate takes and demos on youtube from the Beatles both together and in their respective solo careers, but who has the time to go through it all? Post anything you think is cool here. The second video is from the youtube channel LennonPianoTapes which is pretty much the holy grail of Lennon tapes.

For some reason this outtake wasnt included on the anthology set as its one of the best there is, way more interesting than Mr Moonlight take 4 or take 1 of Kansas City .

I know how to breath some life into this thread, obviously with an alternate mix of Revolution 9 !
Well, there it is. But this is a cool, more raw version of I'm So Tired, with more organ which is always a good thing. Biting Lennon vocal. feature=related

The far superior unedited Not Guilty
Norwegian Wood Take 2 (not the best quality)
A longer Can You Take Me Back (a snippet appeared between Cry Baby Cry and Revolution #9 on the White Album )

Continuing with the Strawberry Fields theme below are takes 1 – 4 and 5 -7. Take 1 has backing vocals which are absent from the one on Anthology 2 . Take 7 has the original ending, on Anthology 2 there is an edit piece floated in towards the end.

Something take 37 plus a jam session. It would have been nice if they kept John's piano on the final version.

If you listen real close at times you can hear Johns piano, its buried deep.
Keeping on the theme of Abbey Road tracks with extended jams here's Take 30 of You Never Give Me Your Money
And Take 7 (or 5 depending on who you believe) of She's A Woman which also a long jam, which isnt on Abbey Road .

That piano riff on the end of Something – I presume you all know it was used by Lennon on Remember (Plastic Ono Band) the next year?
Thanks for sharing these. I love McCartney's voice on She's A Woman . Really raw and bluesy. And I found it interesting that on YNGMYM there's a bass guitar at the start, but some of the notes on the final mix are missing (eg around “funny paper”). That suggests there were at least two bass overdubs on the song, which I don't think I knew before.

Ringo's drumming isolated from the multi-track, probably from Rock Band (ive never played Rock Band so would have no idea). I love this type of thing and have found there are tons out there. Not everyones taste tho, i admit. Any road.

I love Ringo, he's so good. I don't want a drummer that has long, stupid solos, give me sweet fills all day, if I were a drummer I would just study Ringo on Rubber Soul , his fills are so incredibly different on every track.
Back on topic, I'm not a particular fan of the actual recording of #9 Dream, but it certainly is a great song in itself. Here's a demo or two.

These are all fantastic. I especially like the very first one. To me, any recording of John alone with a guitar is priceless. Thanks, Gnik!
Please keep posting these alternate takes as you find them – very much appreciated.

Possibly the best version yet of Across The Universe , mixed by Glyn Johns in January 1970, eliminating a lot of the overdubs/effects added in 1968 and nearly all of the female backing vocals (very faint).

Meanmistermustard, you're right. That IS the best version of Across The Universe .
(At some point I'm going to pinch that and put in on the book's Facebook page and blog!)
