I got this tantalizing email today:

This Friday, October 09, on John Lennon ‘s 75th Birthday , we will release the name of a famed British Invasion band with a unique connection and many comparisons to The Beatles that will rock Abbey Road On The River, Saturday, May 28th as part of their historic worldwide reunion tour.

Who could it be? I have a hunch it’s an Apple band. Some previous bands that have played are The Beach Boys and ELO (- Jeff Lynne), so it should be someone pretty good. And everything points to my attending the festival with my true love, who moved out in September 2009 and will be moving back in with me later this month! As the self-appointed BB promoter of this annual event (I have no connection with the event and am not a paid endorser, merely a satisfied customer!), I’ll keep you posted.

The following people thank Matt Busby for this post:

Brian Poole and The Tremeloes – if they still exist.

Thanks for the heads-up, @Zig. I had gotten that email and was waiting for another…in fact I was actually going to search today to see if they had announced it.  Looks like two bands, The Rascals and The Zombies. Yes, Aimee & I will be there.

Got the scoop on the future of arotr: They’ve got 2017 scheduled just across the Ohio river from Louisville, in Indiana. Apparently the site is similar to the old one, with space for several stages along the riverfront and a hotel that opens up directly to the festival. Had to miss it this year (Paul tix took the money) but next year…
