Okay, here is my Ringo one (George fans, calm down, I’ve got a plot, but it depresses me to think about)
Ringo, after a typical day at the recording studio, was tired. However, this day became anything but normal. This was 1984, 14 years after the split, and yet, he got a offer that surprised even him. Someone called. Ringo picked up the phone, and heard the voice so many people know and love, Paul Simon’s. “Hey Ringo, it’s the other famous Paul!!” Simon started, before shocking Ringo by saying, “Look, me and Art are reuniting, and recording a new album, followed by a tour. We want you as our drummer for both. What’ya say?” Ringo was flabbergasted. Him, drummer for Simon and Garfunkel? Inconceivable, right? And yet, he got this feeling. Imagine , him anchoring another one of the best bands of the 1960’s? “Sure, I’ll do it. Where are you recording?” Simon replied New York, and Ringo hopped on the first flight there. However, Paul and Art weren’t so harmonious. They argued about letting him sing some of his hits, with Simon saying he should, whereas Garfunkel thought it could end up with they coming to see him. They comprised, saying he gets 2 songs. When Ringo arrived, the first thing they did was get him acquainted with the hits like ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ ‘Keep The Costumer Happy’, The Boxer and Mrs Robinson. Once they felt he knew they well enough, they recorded the album, but came up 1 song short. Instead of having Simon writing a filler track, Ringo got Tom Petty to get to the studio after his gig at Madison Square Garden, where he gave S&G Room At The Top, which was then duly recorded. The tour followed, getting marvellous reviews and selling out everywhere. Ringo mostly stuck to singing Octopus’ Garden and Back Off Boogalo, although he did sing Imagine on John Lennon ‘s 44th birthday. Now, the last show of the tour was in New York, and the band was having problems thinking of an ending. Ringo did, having Lennon, Petty, CSNY, McCartney, and James Taylor appear on stage at a point and sing a song or two, and then having all 8 appear with the band for a finale of Brodge Over Troubled Water, followed by Mrs Robinson. That show has gone down in history as one of the best ever, all because of Ringo. Ringo later commented, “That show was pure brilliance. I was able to get such talent to show up, and then that finale was just perfect.” McCartney later noted, “when Ringo asked me, I said to myself, if you say no, you are stupid.” He was right, but that wasn’t the only effect that derived from that night. 3 nights later, Tom Petty called McCartney, saying, “How about doing an album together?” McCartney, however……

Okay, here’s the Gomeorge story, my final installment (for now – more of wanted!!) Credit for plot development goes to MMM again, and the lucky fan is Mith. Here it is: (Set in 1974)
George was livid. He had just called John, who promptly hung up on him. But this might have been for the best, as 30 seconds later, his career changed forever. His phone rang, with Eric Clapton on the other side, which was nothing strange. But his message was. “George, how is it going?” “Fine Eric, how about you?” “I’m fine, but I have an idea. What about getting a band together? Maybe me, you, Jim Kelter and Paul?” “I’d rather not have Paul, thank you very much, Eric.” “I know, I was kidding. How about Brian Wilson on bass?” After that, Harrison was sold. With one thing. “You still haven’t said why you want this?” Eric was shocked. He had expected that George would be all for it, rendering questions like that moot. “Well,” Eric said, “I’ve been wanting a record out for a while, but I need a decent band with me. Cmon George, please?” Just then, however, he got a message from Patti. The note read, “George, your doctor needs to see you immediately. You are in grave danger.” Returning to Eric, he made an excuse and rushed to the doctor, where he learned he had cancer from his smoking. However, it was treatable. George was immediately prepped for surgery, but he said to Patti, “Tell John, Paul and Ringo and tell them to get it out that I have a case of treatable lung cancer.” She did as requested, and the lads released a joint statement. Harrison became stronger daily, and within 6 weeks was deemed cured. Now, George started to preach not smoking to teens. He had the message, but he needed the platform. Just when he was ready to throw in the towel, Clapton came to the rescue. Calling again, he said “Remember the group I suggested before? Why don’t we tour the US and UK, and give out anti smoking pamphlets before each show?” George was excited by the prospect, and ordered the brochures made. And yet, Harrison never was one to keep to the script, having both Paul and John arrive at the show to sing 3 songs at the end of the first half, with the two of them reappearing with Art Garfunkel for a heartfelt rendition of Bridge Over Troubled Water. The tour went on, the pamphlets given, and The guitars roaring. But, one fan got more then she could ever dream of when she was given a ticket to the closing show. She not only saw her favourite Beatle, she also met him, and got his guitar he used that night, signed by him and Clapton, as well as Brian Wilson’s bass and Clapton’s Strat.
