My cousin’s birthday party was this past Saturday. She’s turning 15 but she’s developmentally disabled from birth. Turns out it was a Beatles themed party because that’s the only music she will stay calm and pay attention to and she really enjoys it. My uncle (her dad) is a massive fan like me (along with my parents, he’s responsible for getting me into them as a small child) and he decked out their place with all his old posters and stuff. Coincidentally I wore one of my Beatles shirts there randomly…a happy case of serendipity!

But I thought it was really cool that their music has the ability to comfort my cousin, who is a happy and social kid but usually prefers to either watch her favorite TV shows or read her books. The fact that the Beatles’ music can hold her attention and bring her enjoyment is really cool, I think,

That is awesome that the Beatles music can hold your cousin’s attention and that she enjoys it so much :)   I love reading things like this.  The TRUE impact the Beatles have on people’s lives.

I love reading things like this too. It’s amazing what music can do with people, isn’t it?

Very cool story.

That’s a wonderful story. I’m glad your cousin can appreciate and enjoy them too.

Thanks for sharing that with us.

Thanks, all. Not only was I happy to be there because it was her birthday and because it’s always nice when the whole family gathers, but the Beatles stuff all around made it extra cool 8)

"Please don't bring your banjo back, I know where it's been..  I wasn't hardly gone a day, when it became the scene..  Banjos!  Banjos!  All the time, I can't forget that tune..  and if I ever see another banjo, I'm going out and buy a big balloon!"
