Let’s just include everyone on the Sgt. Pepper cover, shall we?
Great idea for a thread. I’ll have to do some thinking!

- They had little filler throughout their career, and there are very few other artist I can say that about
- They all went on to have great solo careers (or in Ringo’s case, a few stellar albums and a lot of garbage – sorry Richy)
- How rapidly their music changed in such a short period of time
- Their personalities and senses of humor
- They’re all about peace and love
- They all shared the spotlight and there wasn’t one member of the group that overshadowed all the rest
- Their accents and their vernacular
- They have gotten me through some pretty rough times and have shaped me into the person I am
- My love for them led me to this great website
- I really have no choice whether or not to like them at this point because if I suddenly discovered that I didn’t like them anymore, I would be lost as they have become a part of who I am

I’d say that’s fair. They are in the picture with the other Beatles and it says “The Beatles,” doesn’t it?

Technically none of the other people are actually in the picture. It’s all wax figures and cardboard cutouts.

Why would they have a the towards Germans, Germany is just a country and German is just a nationality, I’m not going to dislike Germans because of Hitler in the same way that I’m not going to hate on Muslims because of Osama Bin Laden or having hate towards British people because of the American Revolution .
You’re right but that’s today. In the 60s however, they were partly playing in front of people who have been present in the third Reich and have looked away during the Holocaust. So, they could have born grudge or at least they could have stayed for themselves, after all, it was a stressful time. But they chose to open up and make friends with the exis and let them influence them, what I think is a great sign of tolerance and lack of prejudice!

Dark OverlordNot once does the diversity seem forced -- the genius of the record is how the vaudevillian "When I'm 64" seems like a logical extension of "Within You Without You" and how it provides a gateway to the chiming guitars of "Lovely Rita. - Stephen T. Erlewine on Sgt Pepper's

How do we really know they didn’t use a Yoko wax figure or a cardboard cutout?

To be fair though, I don’t think Klaus or Astrid were pro Nazi or anything like that, so it’s not like they had differing opinions on WWII.

If we follow the logic of the original claim, The Beatles themselves are cardboard cutouts, because that is what a record cover is.

Oh man, I’m gonna have to give this one a think (as well as a thank ). In no particular order, then, #9 #9 #9 reasons I love the Beatles…
1) They were the first proper band I got into, winning me over despite my bias against ‘songs with words in ’em’ (I was a weird little kid, okay?).
2) There is so much variety in their music, but it all sounds like The Beatles. Each of their albums has a distinct sound and feel*, and they’re all good.
3) Such high quality standards! Even their filler songs are beloved of many.
4) Wit, charm, authenticity, talent, and nice hair.
5) The four of them just had such chemistry, there was nothing like it before or since.
6) They were both popular and inventive. They brought lots of previously obscure things to the light of day.
7) Each of them are personally fascinating as well as being fine musicians and songwriters.
8) They saved the world from boredom then, and have been doing so ever since.
9) At the bottom of it all, their music promoted peace, love, and understanding. It still does. It’s uniting people all across the globe on the very boards of this magnificent proscenium arch!
*I can also happily say this about my other favourite bands as well.

Heres another: The only became more popular after they got through their “fans burning our records” phase. For every other band I can think of, the phase where fans burn your records is the final phase.
