Probably – and the song is all the better for it. Love hearing Ringo beating the living daylights of them, sounds like he is getting rid of some frustration.
‘YGTLTG’ has always been one of my favourite songs, even since i heard it on ‘Love Songs’ (not ‘Help !’). The call and response vocals which vary from backing to harmony to lead blow me away and i will remain eternally miffed why the first line of John’s vocal after the guitar break has an effect applied that comes from nowhere and then disappears.
I remember getting so excited when i found the mono production acetate on a cheap copy of a bootleg which had an alternate George solo which is so lame. No wonder they got him to re-record it.

From the moment the movie begins, I look forward to this song/scene. “Are you boys buzzing?”
It’s funny how they show Ringo drumming in the center of the band, then playing the bongos off in a corner. A talented lad, our Ringo.

That was actually William Campbell tickling the ivories, auditioning for the role he would assume in the following year.

Loved this song first time I heard it way back in ’65. The movie scene is outstanding and I always felt that the changing of Paul to piano and Ringo to bongos was sort of a nod to A Hard Day’s Night – the card scene of I Should Have Known Better – where they switch what the boys are doing in the scene.
The call and response vocals are stunning.

Not heard these before. The vocals are so cool anyway, isolated they are fantastic to hear.

Ohhh that was so FAB. I always loved the call-and-response vocals, and John’s vocal is chill-inducing in its own right.
Funny that even without all the instrumental backing I can still hear the instrumental backing perfectly. Or at least I think I can…

Its from the 5.1 dvd so there is a bit of leakage however the brain has the ability to fill in the blanks.
This is also pretty cool – no lead guitar or piano.
‘YGTLTG’ has always been one of my favourite ever Beatles tracks. Well before i ever got the ‘Help !’ album i would get ‘Love Songs’ out and drop the needle on this track.
Another track to add to the list of songs where you dont want to be messing with John – tho thankfully this time he’s focusing his attention on the guy and not the girl.

I have no idea what you are meaning @Wigwam.
Sorry……..It’s me.
In the film I recall the ‘producer comes in at the end and says……”I say you chaps can you hear that buzzing sound?’
Then Ringo falls through a hole cut below him.
I think I’ve dug myself int a hole……….But ‘I”m fixing it’

If you don’t treat her right my friend,
You’re gonna find her gone.
That line gives me a headache. Did he find her? Is she gone? How can it be both?

Maybe it’s one of the many euphemisms for death.
You gonna find her dead.

Ooh, nice wordplay you spotted there… I never noticed it.
I always accepted that he would look for her and find that she had gone, but, y’know, too many syllables…
