I had to rewatch the MMT sequence to see if it had that same lifeless atmosphere…nope! Cheery throughout. I wish we had much less Beatles choreography and more spontaneity and I wish Paul tossed the roses back, but the surprising shot of that spinning dancer and the other overhead shots almost make the clip a success by themselves
Just sayin
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Yeah to all that. I know it’s not like Paul to do melancholy, but that’s part of what I’m liking about what I’m suddenly hearing in this song, its rarity! What would Paul think of a fan who (possibly) wrongly reinterprets his song and finally appreciates it for the first time?
He’d be ok I think, loathe to admit to melancholy, but open to interpretations. I kind of like your interpretation, and I hate the use of the word saccharine but the sweetness could be deceptive. If he said he was bemoaning the loss of that culture, I’d be just as happy.
I'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

Actually it struck me just how spare the arrangement is – nothing exotic, no horns or reeds or other exotica such as in the other granny numbers. One of the rare numbers from the era that could’ve been conceivably performed live faithfully.

John mentioned filming ‘YMSK’ as one of his highlights from ‘MMT’.
My brother says that this is his least favorite part of the movie, and the stairs sequence ruined the song for him. I love it, and think it is hilarious.

The steps…It bothers me that they’re out of step with the rhythm, but MMM says it was because of the live playback using the alternate version
