I agree. Great name and great avatar.
I think the Texas cowboy liked the roping analogy.
Trippyflower, I think of this every time I see your name “Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers / That grow so incredibly high.”
Here are the first 5 songs on Paul’s set list for that concert I attended that changed my life: Eight Days A Week , Junior’s Farm, All My Loving , Listen to What the Man Said, Roll It. By the time song 6 started playing, I had awoken to Paul McCartney , and through him, to the Beatles. So, the song that *really, really, really* grabbed me, shook me, and hooked me was …. Paperback Writer . I didn’t know until later that Paul had the different phases of his career and that Paperback Writer was a Beatles song. Anyhoo, I’m counting it as my first Beatles song.

LOL. One of the things on the forum is the side activity of the Paulettes having their PM private PM’s. Ladies, crank that a/c up.
Paul is a noun, verb, adjective, adverb, and exclamation in there.

I think there should be a compulsory warning attached to all mentions of the private PM’s as well as an age restriction so to warn those who might consider asking to be included.

A standard disclaimer. Good idea, mmm. I nominate you to write it so it will be funny enough to grab people’s attention and get them to actually read it. I give you an apple as an enticement to do so.

No, yours is just the warning sign.

Pretty sure it was Let it Be. I am not sure though whether I knew that it was by the Beatles. It was one of those songs that we learned in my first English lessons at school (I think I was 9, so that would be about 13 years ago I guess). But I only became a real fan two years ago and that’s when I realised that I’ve heard almost every song before somwhere without even noticing. So maybe it wasn’t Let it Be after all

Welcome, Mara.
You bring up a good point. Many people have heard Beatle songs without realizing their source.
In my experience at work, the song most likely to be associated with the Beatles when I ask a 20-something person to name a Beatle song is … “Yellow Submarine .”
This is why when people say that it’s a very weak song, I answer, “Look at the impact that it has had!”

Hi, Mara!
So, you were introduced to The Beatles in the land of “The Sound of Music”. Very cool. I got to visit Salzburg in October 2012. Beautiful!
Glad you’ve joined us.

Salzburg, Austria, eh? I always thought that when Paul was younger — not during Beatles days, but let’s say any time throughout the 70s even into the 80s (since he continued to look preternaturally youthful) he would have been the best person to play the role of Mozart in a movie (much better than Tom Hulce who went on to play him in Amadeus). I told this to my sister who is both a Beatles fan and a Mozart Maniac, and she demurred, for one of her favorite portraits of Mozart has him look rather thin and melancholy —
— a contrast to Paul’s eternally cheery Irish moon-face. I think I won her over, though, by stressing the more important glint in Paul’s eye, the sign of the Muse of Musical Genius and the Love of Play, which Mozart for all his melancholy also enjoyed.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!
@Funny Paper: Now that’s a Mozart film I would love to see.
@Aaah Girl: Glad you enjoyed your stay. I do believe Salzburg is the most beautiful city in Austria, but I’m probably biased
@Into the Sky with Diamonds: Reminds me that for years I thought Can’t By Me Love was originally sung by a woman. There are so many Beatles covers out there in films, TV, adverts … It’s impossible to “escape”.

The first Beatles song I remember hearing was a cover of “Hello, Goodbye ” in a TV commercial from around 2006 or so, and I heard “Yellow Submarine ” sometime when I was younger, as did many other people. Also, interestingly enough, I can remember hearing “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds ” from when I was around eight or nine, though I can’t remember where.
