I got the impression they were saying they didn’t like him more as a person than as a guitarist. That was my interpretation tbh.

The cover, and btw I really dislike covers, is very good. You have some talent there.

It’s nice, but if it’s possible I’d like to see the rest of the song played. I hate the people who only play solos or riffs. They say they can play Smoke On The Water, but it’s only the first two bars….

"White Album - My joint-fave Beatles album along with Revolver. They show the two sides of Beatles. Revolver's very controlled - even though it's also very innovative. The White Album's playful and almost ramshackle. It's like a scrapbook kept by a genius. Fantastic stuff."

If I don’t end up having very much homework this week (I have two days of school before Thanksgiving) then I’ll make an effort to learn the whole song! But no, I know how you feel for sure, it can get annoying when people only play bits and pieces. I just figured a solo as great as that can stand on it’s own in a guitar playing context, at least.

What I don’t get is that 2 members dislike Clapton but like this solo from WMGGW…….Which is Clapton’s reproduced by the OP note for note….(almost).

Well, my main issue with Clapton is that he’s a jerk. And he’s very overpraised, which admittedly is not his fault. But still, I can’t deny that he’s made some incredible music and played his share of fine gently-weeping lead guitar in the past. (LONG in the past.)

Layla is all-time. And Cream were pretty great.

This whole thing began when somebody spray-painted “Clapton is God ” on a wall. Unfortunately, that anonymous spray-painter was a poor speller; the message was supposed to read: “Clapton is good.”

Some of Clapton’s stuff is good but i have no desire to go deep into his solo catalogue – I like Cream and Derek and the Domino’s have some good stuff but from the 80’s on especially its pretty average.

brunoxdddd, well done on finding where to post your cover song. It belongs here, and nowhere else. In future, please keep the right stuff to the right threads. Posting this video various times has only led to my deleting it from everywhere else but here. It’s good that you’re passionate about what you do (I assume that’s why you want to make sure everyone here sees it), but you only create more work for myself and the other mods.

I’m doing Get Back and Let It Be at my St. Patrick’s Day party next month. I’ll try to get a video up. (I might also be doing Maybe I’m Amazed )

I have been haunted by the chords and melody of “Eleanor Rigby ” for years. When I’m brainstorming for musical ideas, I stumble upon many things which remind me of Eleanor Rigby in some fashion, and it’s hard to get that resemblance out of my head. When that happens, I end up with yet another arrangement of the song.

This is my current favorite arrangement of mine, recorded just the other day. I hope you enjoy it.

I like how you bring out the descant in the chorus part —

Em
Eleanor Rigby , picks up the rice in the church
C Em
where a weeding has been, lives in a dream.
Em
Waits at the window, wearing the face
C Em
that she keeps in a jar by the door, who is it for?

— the descant being the descending notes D – C# – Cnatural – B.

It seems the Beatles version kind of obscures that descant.

Faded flowers, wait in a jar, till the evening is complete... complete... complete... complete...

Thanks! That descending chromatic line is one of my favorite parts of the song (musically).

I just realized, there was something about that descant that sounded familiar, and it was from a song I wrote like about 25 years ago!  I don’t have a recording of it to offer, but basically it’s a very slow tempo in 4/4, most of the song uses Em to Am, with an addition sometimes of an F major.   Then at one point, the singer holds a high E note and sustains it through the guitar slowly strumming one chord after another — almost exactly the same: Em7, Em6, Am7, Em — emphasizing those same descending notes.  My song was called “History” and it was sort of trying to replicate the feel of one of those “intellectual” songs Al Stewart did so well.

Hi Guys!

I’m a Beatles tribute drummer and I wanted to share a couple of my Ringo vids with you. Doing my best to make a name for myself on the Beatles tribute scene. I try to replicate Ringo’s look and sound as best as I can, let me know what you think! :-)

I thought it was pretty good. I assume there’s at least two guitar tracks in there?

Actually, I have an idea for collaboration on some covers. If you’re interested PM me.

@Starr Shine? Thanks! And yup, I did the rhythm, sitar, and droning one note background part that I think is also a sitar with a guitar.
