Oh god, no. Although I do know how to play the song, including the solo, there are several reasons why I don’t plan on doing this:
1. I’m using an acoustic guitar to record these songs, my Strat is in the basement whereas my acoustic and computer are in my room and as you might know, it’s very hard to play any notes higher than the 15th fret on an acoustic, which Freebird has most of notes located higher than the 15th fret.
2. Since I don’t play that often, it hurts to play after a while and I nearly got blisters from playing The Beatles on acoustic guitar. If Here, There, And Everywhere can get you that close to getting blisters, Freebird will make your fingers bleed with blisters.
3. As much as I love 60’s and 70’s classic rock, I want to focus mainly on The Beatles because they were, still are, and always will be the best band of all time.

I forgot to reply!
I especially liked Nowhere Man . I don’t why Nowhere Man in particular, but that was the standout for me!
If you you can pull off I’m Only Sleeping , that would be incredible!

I chose to do acoustic guitar oriented songs and also Nowhere Man is one of my favorite songs by The Beatles as well as in general.

The Beatles have had a tremendous impact on shaping who I am today.
I recently released a Sitar/Vocal rendition of The Beatles “Norwegian Wood ” —
Any feedback & love form the forum community would be much appreciated. x

I’ve been working on this for over a month:
My very first cover. Yes there are moments where it is… average, but what do you think?

I love this. The bassline was pretty much nailed.

@Ricky Ficarelli Very nice! I quite like your alternate melody — I admit it threw me at first, but it’s quite creative. I think George would approve.
@The Hole Got Fixed Very nicely done. The only thing I’d improve is the vocal.

That’s a really cool first cover! Congratulations on this special occasion! I agree with sir walter, the bass is great! And the descending/ascending seventh chords on the guitar, they are awesome as well!
By the way, here’s a cover of Blackbird I did yesterday. I know the vocals are gruesome, I just can’t carry a decent tune and it sounds as emotional as a damp piece of wood lying on the street, but hey, it’s my first cover as well, so there’s a lot room for improvement! Did you notice the Blackbird singing in the middle of the song?

Great cover, @The Hole Got Fixed! Good attempt at the drum roll before the second verse!
@Martha, I can’t seem open your file. Do you have a SoundCloud or Youtube account you could perhaps post it to?

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll fix that when I have access to my laptop again (Friday).

Thanks all.
I can access the file @Martha. It’s awesome! You’ve nailed the guitar part from what I can tell (though White Album … I’m not a certified authority!) The vocals are also great too, don’t sell it short!

@The hole got fixed That sounds great to me except for the vocal which is a bit flat here and there. But don’t let that put you off, it’s a really good attempt. Very nice playing, well done. 🙂 +
@Ricky Ficarelli I did find the different melody a surprise too. But it’s good we should not be scared of changing things. Great to see someone playing the sitar on a cover!
@Martha Really nice! It’s quite a long process learning all those chords (and especially playing them in the right order!) I thought the vocal was fine. One thing I try to do is to copy Paul’s quirk of using just the index finger if you want to get that unique strum he does. If you listen it’s a pattern of five quick light strums rather than actually any picking. I notice some folk even use travis picking on Blackbird which Paul never learned and that always sounds a bit clunky to me. Keep up the nice covers 🙂 Apples all round!

Thank you all (and @Beatlebug) for your encouraging feedback – my guitar and me, we’re so flattered!!!!! (This also really made me want to record more covers, hehe)
Also, thanks a lot for the tip about the strumming @Sugarplum fairy, that never occurred to me, I have to try it as soon as I can!
@SgtPeppersBulldog, here’s the Soundcloud link, as I promised!

That was a brilliant performance, @Martha! I’ve just gave it a like. Do you mind me following you on SoundCloud? I’d be happy to share the basis of my own musical project with you (although not that much Beatles related, I already showed @Beatlebug earlier and she thought it was good.)
