How do Come Together ,Free As A Bird and Yer Blues have anything to do with world peace? Also Revolution 1 and Revolution are the same song
As if it matters how a man falls down.'
'When the fall's all that's left, it matters a great deal.

Come Together was supposed to be a campaign song for Timmy Leary in the running for Govenor of California. How did it turn into a song about the Vietnam War?

Revolution and Rev. 1 have the same lyrics so it doesn't count as separate Peace songs. Free As A Bird was written in 1977, post Vietnam, in a time of world peace, and Yer Blues is a song about his loneliness and angst.

Could “A Day In The Life ” count as an anti-war song (“The English army had just won the war….”)?

And what about “Happy Xmas (War is Over)?” There isn't a better Christmas song out there!
Absolutely!
At home I have a special CD for Xmas with that one, Do they know it's Christmas? by Band Aid and Christmas is all around us (by the great Bill Nighy ) and before my family protests I start with the awesome Christmas albums by Ottmar Liebert. I'd love to play the Beatles Christmas albums but my family would be like
Edit : I just noticed I'm derailing this topic. Well, I feel very identified with Revolution because it's true for me. Politicians making promises, just wanting our money. I hate when there are elections in Mexico, because of all the bullshit that's around. Everytime I see one of these guys I say “You can count me out”.
Here comes the sun….. Scoobie-doobie……
Something in the way she moves…..attracts me like a cauliflower…
Bop. Bop, cat bop. Go, Johnny, Go.

Give Peace A Chance – not necessarily a great song, but a song that had a lot of impact then and still resonates now.
Working Class Hero – “as soon as your born, they make you feel small.” I think this song proves how sharp John's mind was more than almost any other song he ever did.
Imagine – Working Class Hero with “sugar on top”.
Revolution 1 – very campy, hippie type song.
Cold Turkey – definitely not a “peace song”, but if I ever had any ambition to try heroin, this song definitely put that to rest, so I think the message of this song is as important as any of his others.
Other good ones – Power To The People , All You Need Is Love , Happy Xmas. I especially like Happy Xmas because, like John said, it gives you something to think about during the holidays other than presents and Santa and the whole corporate charade of the holiday season. And the song's message still rings true, we still have wars raging on everywhere with no real end in sight.

*snorts*
Yeah– the Beatles didn't ENCOURAGE their fans to try drugs. They showed everyone why NOT to try drugs.
If I seem to act unkind, it's only me, it's not my mind that is confusing things.
