Agree with you very much on Piggies The harpsichord playing is really groovy and fun.
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

I can never understand the Mr Moonlight hate. I think the harmonies are really nice and John’s vocal performance is pretty impressive.
Those John vocals from the early days are amazing.
PS. I love how members come to defence of songs in the worst Beatles song thread!

I was going to say Wild Honey Pie . Although I notice in the other thread about the best Beatles songs this song is dead last, so I guess my answer isn’t very original.
I actually like the instrumentation in it, to a certain extent.

This one is easy: Tell Me What You See
This song is boring beyond belief. The vocals don’t have any life to them, the guitar makes me want to fall asleep, the lyrics are lackluster, and the placement of the song on Help ! is just awful! This song follows It’s Only Love and You Like Me Too Much , which aren’t that amazing, but this song is way worse than any of them!
This is one of the only Beatles songs I simply cannot stand!

There are a couple of the Ringo cover versions that i would put at the bottom of the list, but for originals, my least favourite song would probably be ‘Hold Me Tight ‘ or maybe ‘Little Child ‘ … no, definitely ‘Hold Me Tight ‘. It is such a weak filler type of song … and even Paul can’t make it sound any better than it is … especially when compared to some of the early songs they did record!

I might agree if there was no “Wild Honey Pie “. It gives me the chills.

I listened to Tell Me What You See over and over recently, and decided that it’s a good song. Not my favorite, but it’s good.
My new least favorite would be I Don’t Want To Spoil The Party .

Awww, IDWTSTP is great! The harmonies are a bit different, and the guitar solo is fantastic!

Early Beatles songs are generally less interesting to me anyway. There are countless tracks spread across the earlier albums and the first Past Masters that are by no means bad but that I don’t really care for and that are somewhat indistinguishable for me musically and lyrically when I haven’t listened to them for longer than a few minutes. There are of course many, many exceptions, highlights of the early Beatles include I Saw Her Standing There , Do You Want To Know A Secret , All My Loving , It Won’t Be Long , A Hard Day’s Night , If I Fell , Things We Said Today , No Reply , Long Tall Sally … But when it comes to Ask Me Why , Tell Me Why , There’s A Place , There’s Another Place, Love For Me, Loving Me Too, Thank You Girl , You Are My Girl, Yes It Is , It Is Love, Love It Is, Hold My Hand Tight etc. (and yes I made up half of those to emphasise my point…) I quickly lose any overview and from the top of my head they sound very samey.
When listening to Please Please Me lately one I noticed was PS I Love You , really flat and generic in their musical oeuvre of the time. This might be their weakest.
Of the later ones, I just don’t like Sun King . That one is another candidate.
And speaking of titles, I read a funny meme recently, that said “How come every early Beatles song is called something like “I Love My Girlfriend (She Loves Me Too)” and every late one is called something like “The Ballad Of Mister Potato Man”?”. Had me dying in laughter.

I don’t know how you could add ‘There’s A Place ‘ to that list … lyrically only Brian Wilson (In My Room) was doing that in a pop song at the time … not sure which came out first? Also it is a nice catchy song and probably the third best song on ‘Please Please Me ‘ after the title song and ‘I Saw Her Standing There ‘

Well, Good Night is not quite a banger, right? I can honestly say that I wouldn’t shed a tear if I never got to hear that tune again. Had they gone with the original idea with guitars and harmonies accompanying Ringo’s vocals it would have probably been much better.

Good Night would have been great with the harmonies and the guitars, but I like that it is in an orchestra setting as it goes with the feel of the song.
