Rain – Its a mess with the bass suffocating a poor melody. It’s one of those rare Beatle songs that now sounds dated.

Saying that, people do like it so it’s just my opinion.

a-hard-days-night-ringo-6Ooh, I hope @Zig doesn’t find out what you just said. He may moderate your ass right off the Forum.

EDIT: I should have X-posted this to the “You know you’re a hardcore Beatles Bibler when” thread  …you know everybody else’s favorite Beatles song.

I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

Funny how Beatle fans can have such an opposite opinion of a song.  It’s allowed of course.a-hard-days-night-paul-7

Myself, I don’t find it outdated at all, as it is as far from Beatlemania as you can get and actually luv the bass riff and great guitar work and the whole message all together. Not to mention Ringo’s great drum rolls & fills.

I’ve always found to be one of those meh songs – its good when i do hear it but i rarely if ever seek it out. No idea why. I prefer the a-side.

Well, I’ve grown to like almost everything they did, but I still can’t stand Julia . Gosh that song is boring.

Interesting. I find Julia to be very touching and therefore very interesting. I wonder if Julia would have liked the song? I’m thinking she would.

my vote goes to “The Night Before ” and “Another Girl “; both shallow rockers that aren’t super interesting melodically.

Your Mother Should Know . Have never been able to understand why someone would write that, let alone record it and release it on a Beatles record.

Re Julia , I’m one who loves that song. The melodies are so delicate and poignant, like the subject. Perfect song. Second favorite song on The Beatles after Dear Prudence .
