Well, that’s true. I think Paul’s voice on the Anthology version is looser and the backing vocals too. I always like to analyze the bass lines of Paul, but I think the original version is very repetitive, unlike the second version and battery and bongos are very stressing and leaving less repetitive music. I think this second version, only missing the start with that “impromptu piano.” Oh, and welcome back!

I Really am not a Fan of “Yes It Is “. It Just sounds like John is Tired and it just isn’t interesting.
I Think that Rolling Stone should do a cover story of The Rolling Stones covering "Like a Rolling Stone" or if a Type of Beetle was named after The Beatles.

At one time ‘Yes it Is’ was one i tolerated but i’ve grown to love the three part harmonies and the Wah-Wah type guitar work. Funny how songs can grow on you. Tho i’l be a three thousand year old elf before i can get to even tolerate ‘Hold Me Tight ‘.

I nominate the song that gave rise to my screen name: Dig It . It is basically just a stream of consciuosness throwaway. John at his most disinterested, and therefore worst.
I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

That is Probably True. “Hold Me Tight ” Is My Least Favorite Beatlemania era song. I’m also not a fan of Eleanor Rigby (Just Heard it too much0

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

There are some songs I like more then others, but these particular tracks I hate with a vengeance.
Hello, Goodbye – The repetitiveness is the main issue for me here. If you listen to five seconds of the song, you’ve pretty much heard the whole thing.
Dr. Robert- I like some of the sillier Beatles songs, but this track sounds like the theme song to a Nickelodeon cartoon.
Michelle – The lyrics for this song are atrocious. (Michelle , ma belle, these are words that go together well) I have no idea how this won a Grammy award.

Aww, c’mon, @LittleBeatlemaniac, don’t be a hater. That song fairly defined the Beatles as a rocking phenomenon when they were first introduced to the rest of the world. You’ve got to love the “one, two, three, FAWH!” And the “you know what I mean” line is brilliant. Nobody knows what he means, but it allows our imagination full rein, so we can come up with our own meaning. I don’t know anything about music, as readers of my posts will agree, but one musical authority liked Paul’s song so well that it is the only one of the really old Beatles’ songs he played live in his solo career. That authority was John Lennon .
Hey, wait, you didn’t post that comment just to elicit an opposing response, did you? I can’t believe I was duped by such an obvious Mr. sun king coming together ploy. *smacking palm to forehead*

How can you not love the ” one, two, three, FAWH!”?
I really don’t like Come Together and Birthday . Birthday is a bit cheesy and Come Together gets quite annoying after a few times listening. I also think that Because and The Long And Winding Road are really boring. Then you have the obvious ones (Wild Honey Pie , Revolution 9 ,…)

It’s Revolution 9 . It’s not even really a song. It’s a bunch of noise that’s incredibly difficult to listen to for 2 minutes, let alone 8.

‘Revolution 9 ‘ was never created as a song, its a sound collage and should be treated as such (whether you like it or not as a sound collage is another matter). To bemoan thats its not a good song misses the whole nature of its existence, same as those who gripe that the lyrics of ‘I Am The Walrus ‘ make no sense.

While I don’t have a problem with Revolution 9 on its own for the same reasons that MMM just said, I do have a problem with it being included on an album that was meant to be a collection of songs and was marketed as such. By a similar argument I don’t have a problem with Her Majesty because it wasn’t really part of the album; it was just a short piece that was tacked onto the end 20 seconds after the REAL last song on the album (The End ). But if Her Majesty had been included in its original setting as part of the medley then it probably would be their worst song.
So if we were to count all the recordings of their career including those that don’t qualify as songs, then Revolution 9 would be their worst with Wild Honey Pie being a close second. But since were only counting songs that actually qualify as songs, I would say that their are no completely terrible songs in the Beatles’ catalog, just songs that didn’t quite work (A Taste Of Honey , Hold Me Tight ), lazy songwriting efforts (Little Child , Why Don’t We Do It In the Road?), and boring songs (PS I Love You , Flying ).

A Taste Of Honey doesn’t work? Hold Me Tight doesn’t either? PS I Love You is a boring song?
Really?
